A new law has been laid down for The Bachelor, Matty J.

In celebration of The Bachelorette runner-up Matty Johnson being chosen as the new Bachelor, we thought we’d lay down a few ground rules for the new season.

We want drama. We want walk-outs. We want a bachelor who doesn’t pretend the dates were his ideas and not the product of three producers and a stylist.

A set of controversial new laws have been laid down for Matty J, listen to them here:

But it’s hard to create drama. It’s not every day you cast a reality show and two of the booted contestants go on to date each other.

We decided to make it a bit easier by listing all the things we’d like the new Bachelor to say in the upcoming season.

Let’s be real for a hot second, last season’s Bachelor, Richie Strahan, was a little bit polorizing. He came across as the kind of guy you’d bring to family lunch to pretend you had your life together.

He’d pull up in a nice car, introduce himself as Richard, and compliment your mum on the hummus as though it was some great delicacy.

Lovely. Nice. Not great television. Not quite the funny Richie we fell in love with.

So, because Channel 10 refuses to give us the male equivalent of Keira, we’re now looking at another season with a sweetly polite man. Grim.

Matty, 29, has already copped criticism for the role. Fans have expressed concern he’ll be too gentle and too bland for what can be a dramatic series.

“I find the Bachelor/Bachelorette getting more and more boring and unwatchable as they only use rejects from the last season. How boring,” one fan wrote on our article announcing his selection.

“Agreed. Already not looking forward to the ‘when I got my heart broken…’ story line. It was a nice idea to have Sam Frost as the first Bachelorette, especially after what happened to her. but come on guys, enough,” wrote another.

I mean, seriously. He's like a sweet older brother. (Source: Channel 10.)

It's not that we don't like nice guys, it's just we already KNOW this particular nice guy. He's a walking, talking safe bet. And it's not as though they haven't taken casting risks before.

Listen to the latest episode of The Binge for breaking news on The Bachelor, Eurovision, Tina Fey's brand new show and so much more.

(Let's not forget the brilliant sh*t show that was former Bachelor Blake Garvey.)

We aren't asking for Blake 2.0 but surely we can agree that already loving The Bachelor before the season begins sort of takes the fun out of it.
