'Heartbroken.' Everything Melissa and Josh have said since *that* MAFS commitment ceremony.

Last night's commitment ceremony on MAFS was one for the history books – a sit down filled with tears, cringing and a fair few 'WTF' moments.

And it was Melissa and Josh that stole the show. For all the wrong reasons.

Despite it being Intimacy Week, the romance vibes did not flow down to Melissa and Josh, who last night walked away from the experiment.

Melissa said she felt like the alpha in the relationship. Josh said he felt controlled by Melissa, alleging she had tried to restrict his access to TV, his phone, when he can and can't read books, when he can leave the house and more.

Josh also shared his hurt over Melissa questioning his masculinity, which she confirmed she had said.

The experts then told Melissa that she had essentially degraded Josh to deflect from her own faults. Josh cried, the group comforted him, Melissa felt unsupported, and it was an all-around s**t show. It eventually led to Melissa writing to stay in the experiment, but Josh writing 'leave' – and expert John Aiken making the executive call to get them off MAFS for Josh's sanity.

Since the cooked commitment ceremony went to air, both Melissa and Josh have had plenty to say about their former relationship...

Melissa said she felt "blindsided" by the edit their relationship received.

On KISS FM's Kyle and Jackie O Show, Melissa said that she was "100 per cent blindsided" by the 'edit' of her and Josh's relationship.

She said that while she and Josh were together, she didn't see signs that he was struggling or upset over the relationship. Watching the show back, she felt as though Josh was an entirely different person in his pieces to camera, rather than one-on-one.

"Josh is a very different person in front of me and then he would go to these things called voxies [piece to cameras] and break down. I felt like I was sleeping with a secret assassin ... he would be so kind to my face and then behind doors breakdown and I had no idea."

When Kyle Sandilands suggested that Josh had kept his tears for the camera, Melissa agreed, saying she didn't feel he was "100 per cent honest".

"My heart even broke for him, and I was very compassionate and very caring but I couldn't say anything. I just sat there. I was shocked," she said about his emotional reaction on the couch in front of the experts.

"Three hours before he was taking a selfie of me in my black dress and he was very happy."

Melissa denied the claims she was controlling.

Just to circle back to the claims, Josh suggested Melissa had controlled his habits and behaviours while they were living together, allegedly dictating when he watched TV, looked at his phone, when he was 'allowed' to read and who he was allowed to talk to.

When Kyle and Jackie O brought this up, Melissa strongly denied the controlling allegations, saying: "That's absolutely not true... I don't want to add any more fuel to the fire."

Melissa reflected on the sex, and said she didn't feel they were aligned.

During the commitment ceremony, Melissa said their sex life during Intimacy Week had not been what she had hoped for. It was a conversation that left Josh visibly upset.

And today, Melissa doubled down on the topic, saying: "There was no kissing. It was very transactional. It was just physical – that was quite awful. It was really sloppy and messy… I wouldn't say that it was hot and heavy and intimate. It wasn't how I imagined to have an amazing sex life with someone."

Melissa said she felt "heartbroken" over the way it ended.

In the end, Melissa had changed her mind and wanted to stay in the relationship with Josh – but the experts intervened. Although Melissa appeared to be level-headed and not visibly emotional on camera, she said she was devastated by how it ended.

"I mean just because I'm strong and I'm confident, it doesn't mean that I don't have feelings or that I'm not hurt as well," she said to 9Entertainment. "I was heartbroken."

Josh said his final week in the experiment tested his mental health significantly.

Speaking to 9Entertainment, Josh said he had "tried to persevere" and "push himself", but admitted his final week was what really tested him.

"Towards the last couple of days I just kind of felt like there are all these things that I was seeing, some patterns of patterns of behaviour that I was uncomfortable with," Josh said.

"What I wanted out of a relationship was not just intimacy from a physical component, but also spiritual connection, able to have deep conversations and experience growth together versus just the physical."

Josh said he felt really supported by the Australian public following last night's episode going to air.

On Nova's Fitzy and Wippa, Josh said it was "difficult to watch" the commitment ceremony, but that it was "nice to have friends, family and strangers reach out".

"I want to be true to myself and genuine and that's how I tried to approach it. You do question whether you're enough for someone. It was one of the fears I had."

Josh also said he hoped Melissa would be able to look back on that experience and learn from it, given how upset he was about what she said.

"She apologised on the couch and I have to take that for face value. I do hope there's a bit of reflection with the way she behaved, the way she treated me and the things she said."

Josh said he didn't like the hate Melissa is getting online.

In the wake of the commitment ceremony going to air, Melissa has been dealing with a fair bit of hate on social media and online. She has also been subjected to harassment.

As Melissa said to Mamamia: "Two men have been to my place of work to find me. One man asked my colleagues if the 'freak in the sheets' was in. When she said 'no' and then asked what he wanted, he just said, 'Well if she's after a good f**k, I can give it to her'. My colleague asked him to leave, and I reported it.

"It shocked me. I wanted sex with my husband, yes, but not with multiple random men. It was scary."

Josh has since called on the public to stop "attacking and bullying" Melissa online.

"I don't enjoy reading any of those comments. It doesn't raise me up or make me feel good in myself in any way," he said. "We're two just very different people, I don't want to punch down on Mel."

Melissa and Josh have not been in contact since the experiment.

Josh said the morning after the commitment ceremony was filmed he received a text message from Mel, and then a call from her as well. He said it was a "brief conversation".

They didn't speak for quite some time, and then Josh said he sent her a message prior to their wedding day going to air on TV, where he said "all the best".

"I haven't heard from Mel today," Josh said on Fitzy and Wippa.

Melissa also confirmed that she has not spoken to Josh following the experiment.
