WE HAVE A NEW FRONTRUNNER: A ranking of the MAFS 2023 'villains'.

To catch up on all the Married at First Sight recaps and gossip, check out the MAFS hub page. We've got you covered.

Like a great murder mystery, MAFS is full of red herrings and last-minute plot twists.

Just when we think we've figured out who the true villain is, an even bigger villain reveals themselves.

And the original villain suddenly doesn't look so bad.

So, in the spirit of Agatha Christie, I shall attempt to crack the case of who is the biggest MAFS villain of them all.

3. Jesse.

Jesse was a classic red herring.

An early contender for villain of the season, Jesse came in strong in the first couple of episodes with his 'ick list' and an almost comical distaste for his new wife Claire and her... voice.

But as we've since learnt, Jesse may be less villain and more emotionally damaged man who had his walls up after what seems to have been an emotionally abusive relationship.

Do two wrongs make a right? Definitely not, but so far Jesse has delivered a redemption arc that we can get behind.

2. Harrison

According to my colleague Chelsea McLaughlin, if you look audacity up in the dictionary, you'll find a photo of Harrison.

Harrison has pulled straight from the pages of 'Gaslighting For Dummies' and it seems his main tactic is to accuse Bronte of gaslighting him and make himself out to be the victim.

It's a tough watch.

Harrison only escapes the number one spot because Bronte doesn't seem overly concerned about her gaslighting husband.

She's chosen to stay in the experiment. With him. Almost like there's an ulterior motive for her being there. (wink wink future influencer career wink wink.)

1. Shannon

Ah Shannon. A very tanned man who seemed like a decent enough bloke at the start of the season.

We even felt a bit sorry for him when he cried and told his wife Caitlin that he was still in love with his ex-wife and the mother of his child.

Then he was particularly cruel during the ranking challenge, which was the first clue that things weren't quite what they seemed with Shannon.

Later, he told Caitlin it was her fault he was still in love with his ex-wife because she wasn't attractive enough to blow him away on their wedding day.

I haven't even got the time nor the patience to go through the whole ex-wife/cousin secret date dinner party drama.

But this man is the prime suspect biggest MAFS villain at the moment.

It'll be hard to top him, but given we've still got at least six weeks of MAFS to go, I'm sure someone will.

Sigh.

Married at First Sight continues at 7:00pm, Sunday February 19, on Channel Nine and 9Now.
