Hero, Shocker and Whinger of the week: The deep-fried edition.

It’s Sunday. And you all know what the means…

Drinks. And also, Hero, Shocker and Whinger of the week. You know the drill. Of all the things that came across our desk this week, we pick our Hero, who got an A for Awesome, our Shocker, who made us gasp, and our Whinger, who made us want to cover their mouth with masking tape.

Let’s do this.

Hero of the week.

Chips. Our hero is chips.

Well, more like the Perth-based company who is working to implement HOT CHIP VENDING MACHINES in Australia. That’s right. You will put in your coins, wait a measly two minutes and twenty seconds, and then you can fill your mouth with fresh hot chippy goodness. Who needs humans?

More info: Chip machines are coming our way.

Shocker of the week:

This poor man who lost $7 million in 7 seconds. Canadian man Joel Ifergan bought two lotto tickets from a convenience store in 2008. The sales clerk told him to be speedy, as the deadline to buy tickets was 9pm. The first one pumped out of the machine at 8.59, but the second one didn’t make the cut-off by SEVEN SECONDS, and was only eligible for the following week’s draw.

Joel was warned that the ticket was ineligible for that week’s draw, but he bought it anyway. He was denied his share of the $27 million dollar jackpot, and has been in court battles ever since. Good luck to you, Joel. If only there’d been less traffic.
Whinger of the week:

The Liberal Party, for rushing to blame their problems on one person. And that person is not the person making the decisions. They are our Whingers of the week for pointing their fingers at chief-of-staff Peta Credlin, and not at Tony Abbott (who could also have been the Shocker this week for awarding Prince Philip a knightship).

Prime Minister Tony Abbott and chief-of-staff Peta Credlin

But the fun part has been the response on Twitter. Those in support of Peta have spouted their own problems, and included the hashtag #NotPetasFault:

So the Whingers of the Week have brought out our Twitter Legends of the Week. Well played, Aussies.

Read more: This isn’t about Peta Credlin, it’s about Tony Abbott’s terrible decisions.

Do you have any heroes, shockers or whingers that you’d like to add to this week’s list?
