Chrissy Teigen hand-picked a female embryo during the IVF process.

Swimsuit model and extraordinary chef Chrissy Teigen, 30, has copped a lot of criticism this week.

She has been very open and honest on twitter about her numerous decisions in the lead up to becoming a first-time mum, but she's probably starting to wonder whether that was such a good idea.

Earlier this week the haters targeted her about a decision to hire a night nurse. Now they're slamming Chrissy and husband John Legend's, 37, decision to choose the gender of their unborn child.

Chrissy and John Legend have talked unashamedly about their issues with infertility, and their happiness to have the IVF process work for them. But only now that there was apparently some "unnatural tampering" in the process revealed, is everyone up in arms about their "involvement." As usual, Chrissy was right to defend herself.

For someone who has been criticised as often as Chrissy, it's good to see the haters haven't tampered with her humour. She also responded directly to the naysayers.

We hope this situation doesn't stop her from speaking out, because you know she's got a point. This is the Legend-Teigen family business, not ours. And nobody has a right to make her feel bad about it.
