A one-year-old boy has died after being left alone in a hot car this afternoon.
The Herald Sun reports emergency services were called to a residence in Kyneton, northeast of Melbourne, at around 3pm today.
The temperature at the time was 31.6 degrees.

The little boy was found unconscious in a vehicle and was not able to be revived.

My heart goes out to the family who tragically lost their
little one yesterday having been left in the car in the heat. Something needs to be done or at the very
least attempted to ensure that this type of accident does not occur again.
Surely a device can be invented that the owners of motor
vehicles that have children can have fitted to their vehicles, an alarm that
sets when the vehicle is started and then when the vehicle is turned off the
alarm triggers and continues to sound a warning beep and message until it is manually
turned off.
It would only need to be a small device mounted on the dash
or centre console, something about the size of harmonica with a lit sign flashing
'Baby on Board' (or something similar) flashing on and off in conjunction with
an alarm that continues to beep until turned off.
Or better still it should be mandatory that baby seats or
infant booster seats are fitted with seat belt alarms where the alarm sets when
the seat belt is engaged and then when the car is turned off the alarm sounds
until the seat belt is unlocked.
I can't even imagine what this family is going through or
the guilt and despair the young person that left the child in the car would be
suffering. Surely with technology that
exists today something can and must be done to ensure that this type of
horrible accident does not occur again.
Why should it be something/someone else's responsibility for your children? technology has nothing to do with your responsibility as a parent or caregiver of a child. to many things are relying on technology these days, and we all know technology can fail. the only device that should be alerted is you.
Make a habit of putting your handbag on the backseat of your car!
1. You won't be tempted to handle your phone if it lives in your bag.
2. You won't ever not notice your baby in the backseat as you reach for it.
