Attention 90s kids: there was a huge mistake in Arthur and we never noticed.

If you grew up in the ’90s and never watched Arthur, did you really grow up at all?

Arthur was an animated kids show that debuted in the mid-1990s, and taught us important life lessons about anthropomorphism, inter-species relationships, and how to ‘believe in yourself because that’s the way to start (HEY)’.

The show centred around Arthur Read, who was (obviously) an aardvark. Is it strange that the creators picked such a specific animal and then failed to have the character resemble that animal in any way? A little. But we didn’t question it.

As it turns out, there was another thing we didn't question. But, thankfully, a dedicated Twitter user has shown us the light.

You guys, there's a glaring problem with Arthur.

Behold:

WHAT. THE. F**K. Why is he wearing earphones like a normal person when his ears are clearly standing upright??

First, you introduce kids to the concept that fictional characters can also be animals, and that these animals live in their own world where they go to school and work and have human-like relationships.

Oh, and it's not just any animal, it's an aardvark - a species you're only familiar with if you've decided to read the dictionary in your spare time.

AND THEN, you present glaring inconsistencies in the behaviour of these characters.

And it's not just Arthur. Oh no.

....It's the whole family.

One Twitter user has pointed out, however, that logic wasn't exactly a strong point of the show.

I mean, Arthur did have a dog as a neighbor AND a pet so...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
