MAFS star Dean Wells 'caught out asking for free meals in exchange for an Instagram plug.'

Well.

This is embarrassing.

Married At First Sight star Dean Wells has been caught red-handed asking restaurants for free food, and we honestly don’t think we’ve ever felt this much second-hand embarrassment.

Shared to Instagram by restaurant food critic John Lethlean, an alleged leaked email exchange revealed Dean’s management requesting a free “wine and dine” experience with a Melbourne restaurant in exchange for Dean plugging the restaurant to his 80,000 Instagram followers.

“I just wanted to touch base regarding our client, Married At First Sight star, Dean Wells who is looking to wine and dine in the city of Melbourne on the 18th of August,” the alleged leaked email read.

“I thought this could be a good opportunity for them to attend your restaurant, as Dean has over 80K followers across his Instagram,” a representative for Dean reportedly said.

“In return for looking after the two on this special occasion, we can offer Social Media posts and mentions.”

Oh, Dean.

Did you really think 80K followers would simply translate into free meals?

“Grasping At First Sight, a new reality series. Please consider #couscousforcomment,” Lethlan hilariously captioned the post.

Dean, 40, was paired with Tracey Jewel on the latest season of Australia’s Married At First Sight.

Their controversial pairing ended when Dean reportedly had an affair with fellow contestant Davina Rankin, while Tracey went on to date contestant Sean Thomsen.

How is this any different to other social media personalities begging for free products/services/holidays in exchange for "exposure" on their site? This happens every day. Surely you don't think tagging of businesses and asking for "recommendations" isn't without motive...?

Really? Really 6 years ago

Exactly! I thought that's what Insta and Twit and Snap we all about. There is a whole industry created on exactly that. Just another shaming attempt. I didn't like Dean show character, but good on him for jumping on the Milking it society that has flourished in the past couple of years. Make your money and get out.

Totally. Meanwhile, we give ample positive coverage to any number of other influencers/SM famous people out there. Double standards, much?
