weddings

The sign Princess Eugenie's wedding is going to be more strict than Prince Harry and Meghan's.

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that royal weddings are… intense.

There are rules, traditions and expectations, and as a guest the to-do list to avoid public shaming is extensive.

So just months after the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May, people are wondering how Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank on October 12 will be different. Less intense, perhaps?

Wrong.

There are some notable similarities, such as the fact that they are also being married in St George’s chapel, but there is one detail that will make Princess Eugenie’s wedding much stricter than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s; the dress code.

At Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding, the dress code allowed men to wear uniforms, morning coats, or lounge suits. But according to Town and Country, at Princess Eugenie’s wedding men will be required to wear a morning coat.

That is a frighteningly narrow dress code. And we have no doubt that many of the men on that guest list, especially Jack Brooksbank's non-royal friends, will be terrified of messing this up.

But the dress code isn't the only thing that has people surprised at the intensity of the wedding.

At Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May, Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney, Elton John and the Beckhams were just a few of the very well-known faces who were in attendance.

And the guest list to Princess Eugenie's is similarly impressive.

Singer and Songwriter Ellie Goulding, and her partner Caspar Jopling – who are also recently engaged – are close friends with Princess Eugenie. They have often been photographed together at various events and have also been spotted going on double dates together at basketball games. We’re almost positive the Love Me Like You Do’ singer will be attending this royal event.

Just like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, George and Amal Clooney could very likely appear at the royal wedding ceremony in October. Princess Eugenie's fiancé is the UK ambassador for Casamigos tequila, which is a spirit company co-founded by George.

Cindy Crawford's husband Rande Gerber also co-founded Casamigos, so they may also have received an invite.

The Beckhams have attended two royal weddings so far and hence our guess is that they will be invited to a third. The family evidently has close ties with the royals, with their daughter Harper celebrating her sixth birthday last year at a tea party at the Queen's residence, Buckingham Palace. Just casually.

Cara Delevingne is a possible attendee, with Princess Eugenie and the international model being spotted leaving a few parties together over the years.

Kate Moss, Suki Waterhouse and Naomi Campbell are also all friends with Princess Eugenie, according to Harpers Bazaarand are all reported to have been invited to the nuptials.

Sir Elton John and James Blunt also share close connections with the Royal family, and hence are similarly expected to be attending.

As well as close friends and family, the couple are inviting 1200 members of the public who will be selected through a ballot system, akin to the one used at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex' nuptials in May. But we are not sure whether those people will have to wear morning coats, too.

"Men will be required to wear a morning coat" sounds pretty specific to me. Why would Jack's friends be terrified of messing that up? I'm struggling to see how you could mess it up, unless you decided to completely ignore it, which is on you.

For a minor Royal, this wedding is seriously ridiculous and if Inwere a UK tax payer would object to having my taxes used for the security.

LOads of people say this but forget the massive amount of revenue that the royals bring to the country. Anyone who has ever crunched the numbers (or tried to) has shown its outweighed.
