Just 17 photos of very good boys and girls in their festive Christmas costumes.

Excuse us.

We know there are some really serious and important things happening in the world right now.

After all, it’s Christmas and before we know it, we’ll be ringing in a brand new year.

But amid the festive busyness of gift giving, cheesy Christmas movies and endless amounts of food, sometimes… we just need to take a break.

These doggos are getting amongst the silly season, and we’ve never seen such blessed content. Post continues below.

You see, there’s just one thing we really like to do in our spare time: look at animals doing cute things on Instagram.

And at Christmas, it gets even better.

Enter: Animals. In. Christmas. Costumes.

Seriously, there’s nothing – nothing – cuter than seeing a dog, a cat or even a squirrel in a Santa hat.

According to a recent survey conducted by Petbarn, 52 per cent of Aussie pet owners have purchased a dress-up item for their pet such as clothing, accessories or costumes.

The survey also found that four out of five pet owners will also purchase presents and gifts for their pets. (And honestly, we’re not surprised).

Is taking your pet to visit Santa a complete waste of money, or a little bit cute? We discuss on Mamamia Out Loud. Post continues below.

In celebration of Christmas, the retailer is currently running their Christmas range of costumes for pets, which includes bandanas, a dog T-Shirt and more.

So...my cat would never give me permission to do this at any time of year, but I am very grateful to those less discerning felines etc who would. We all need cute Christmas pics.
