Forget the clean look. These are the 6 new rules of 'party girl' beauty.

Slicked back hair. Glowing skin. Minimal makeup. Lightweight mascara. Tinted lips. Minimalist everything.

Over the last few years, the 'clean look' has been quietly (loudly) taking over the beauty space. That 'effortless' (lol), 'no makeup' makeup look that put the spotlight on embracing your natural features.

Thousands of beauty tutorials that've racked up millions upon millions of views dominate the hashtag #cleanlook on TikTok, each showing users how to achieve the off-duty model look championed by celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid.

This kind of stuff:

Whether you want to go with a graphic shape on your lids and fill it in, or just line your eyes with liner (chubby sticks are good for this) and smudge it out for a softer, more wearable look.

Remember when we all thought we were Effy Stonem from Skins? Or Gossip Girl's Jenny Humphries? Yeah. We're doing that again.

Rule #2: Metallic eyeshadow over neutral shades.

Did you see Dua Lipa's metallic eyeshadow at the Billboard Music Awards? Or Megan Thee Stallion's epic rose gold dusted look? Because ICYMI, metallic eyeshadow is making a HUGE return - and honestly, resembling a human disco ball has never looked better.

Whether you want to go for gold, silver, copper, or a mix of them all - when it comes to shades, anything goes. So don't be afraid to experiment with the trend.

Rule #3: Grungy 'baby bangs' over sleek hair.

Put the hair gel down, friend. It's time to snip yourself a tiny fringe.

Over the years, baby bangs have come in and out of style, but this time around, things are a little... different.

Seen on celebrities such as Zoe Kravitz, Doja Cat and Bella Hadid, short fringes are making a HUGE comeback off the back of the 'party girl' aesthetic - but in a grungier, messier way.

So, go on - it's time to perfect that winged eyeliner flick again! Luckily, this time around there's eleventy million TikTok tutorials to help you perfect your technique. *Winky face*.

Rule #5: Spiky hair and tendrils over slicked-back buns.

In the mid-2000s, you wouldn't get a celebrity on the red carpet without spiked-up hair and/or tendrils. It was just the done thing. (Here's to you, Gwen Stefani).

It was such a cool-girl vibe, and in 2022, the comeback of Y2k beauty trends has given us a fresh take on the look.

Worn by musicians like Doja Cat and Billie Eilish on recent red carpets, spiked-up hair and a more creative approach towards 'party girl' aesthetic hairstyles are on the rise.

It's messier, more playful and less structured than ever.

And it couldn't be more refreshing. Anyone else getting hella bored with the standard slicked-back bun??

Rule #6: Nearly black nail polish over barely-there nail polish.

Black nail polish on short nails. It was the non-negotiable manicure of the 2000s - with celebrities like Jessica Simpson, Lauren Conrad and Lindsay Lohan swearing by the look.

And it looks like we never really stopped loving it, because we're about to dive back into the nail trend all over again.

Barely there nail polish and 'clean' nails are fading out, while bold, dark nails are slinking up to the top trending spot.

Whether you want to go super deep black and shiny, or for more of a nearly black deep plum colour - like it or not, dark nail polish is officially on trend again.
