Mariah Carey's 7yo son bought an actual dog without her knowing. We wish we were joking.

Like most modern parents, Mariah Carey, 48, and her ex-husband Nick Cannon, 37, have to monitor their children’s online habits.

And keep an especially close eye on their seven-year-old son Morrocan, it seems.

The singer told Jimmy Kimmel this week that the twin brother of Monroe managed to buy US$5000 worth of we-don’t-know-what via online store Amazon.

The boy even managed to buy an actual dog.

“My son is like a technological genius. I have to control [my kids] with iPads because literally he charged $5,000 on Amazon,” the 47-year-old said during Wednesday night’s episode.

“The other night apparently he was with Nick and he ordered a dog.

“They called [Nick] and they were like, ‘Your dog is ready.’ And he was like, ‘I didn’t order any damn dog!'”

So did Mariah let her son keep it? Well, no. Moroccan didn’t even get a chance to meet the pet he purchased.

“We have enough dogs! The dog’s been cancelled. We have dogs, we have pets, they have fish!”

Mariah also isn’t the only parent to discover their child had gone rogue with their credit card.

This Glorious Mess podcast listener, Liz, was horrified to learn her eight-year-old daughter managed to rack up a $3300 iTunes bill one summer. The girl had been buying “gems” for her game, which her parents only discovered when they received their American Express bill.

“When we finally found out about it, she was off devices for a considerable period of time,” Liz told the podcast.

Jack Black’s son, Sammy, fell into a similar trap when buying bags of in-game gems at US$100 a pop.

The actor told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that he had to have a “sit down” with his son to explain that “money is real”.

“I’m just checking my emails one day and there are 30 emails of receipts for this app – it’s in-app purchases where they get you.”
