Oprah finally publicly endorses Hillary Clinton and explains what took her so long.

Just a couple of days ago, Mamamia’s Mia Freedman made a very grim discovery.

During a Presidential Election that has been so filled with hate, unbelievable attacks, and a candidate that poses the greatest threat to American democracy in history, one person has been very silent.

None other than, Oprah Winfrey.

She has been polled as having a higher credibility than the actual US President and is widely regarded as one of the most influential people.

Yet, despite the increasing desperation to ensure Donald Trump is never elected as President, 62-year-old Oprah has been largely silent.

Until now. Thankfully.

In an interview on the TD Jakes Show, she has finally admitted why she hasn't been an active voice on the campaign trail.

"The reason why I haven't been vocal, other than saying 'I'm with her'," she said, "is because I didn't know what to say that could actually pierce through the noise, the chaos, and the disgusting vitriol that is going on and actually be heard."

That's right, even the "Queen of Media" has felt silenced over the last few months.

Listen to our analysis on why Oprah hadn't come out during the election. (Post continues after audio.)

Making her vote in the upcoming election clearer than ever, she powerful stated, "there is no choice".

"All those people sitting around, talking about how they can't decide," as she looks dumbfounded towards the audience, "this is what I want to say.

"People say, 'I just don't know if I like her,'...She [sic] not coming over to your house.

"You don't have to like her. You don't have to like her.

"Do you like this country? You better get out there and vote."

You thought Oprah was done? Oh, you were wrong. She's not quite over yet.

"Do you like freedom and liberty? Do you like this country? Okay. Do you like democracy or do you want a demagogue?

"Okay. There you go."

You were silent for a very long time Oprah, but we're so glad you're here.

America needed you.

To be honest. I don't care what Oprah or Delta or Jennifer or Kim or any other celebrity are saying about the election, the idea that popular media people and movie stars are being used to sway an election is a worrying trend in my opinion.

I think it's necessary in a country like America where voting isn't compulsory. There's more advertising involved - not just for the parties themselves, but also just getting people to go to the polls!

Yes and no. If the message from the celebrities was to take an interest in politics, register to vote, your opinion matters and so on I would fully support it.

Encouraging politically apathetic fans to take your side is a different matter though.

Did anyone really think she was going to come out and endorse Trump? She's a staunch Democrat.
