US election: Americans on whether they voted for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.

Millions of Americans have cast their ballots in the presidential election, deciding between Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton or Republican candidate Donald Trump.

We spoke to voters, to see who they voted for — and why.

Alex Aitoro

“I voted for Trump. I’m a republican, I think his policies are better frankly, tax, economic and a bunch of other things … I think they’re both such deplorable people that I’m going vote for who has the better policy.”

John Delgado

“Donald Trump because we need to make America great again. I’m 46 and lived here my whole life and it’s not the same, it’s very bad, there’s no jobs, there’s an influx of immigration, it’s just crazy, there’s actually no minimum wage jobs going around anymore. I voted and I’m anxious, I’m very anxious, I think it’s going to be a landslide victory for him. I think this is the biggest election of my life, and probably everybody out here.”

Rammeek Rikhy

“Hillary Clinton because she’s the only competent one. I think it’s about time America actually had a female president, for all our talk about being so progressive, and ahead of the curve and the best country in the world which I think we are still up there but it’s about time that a lot of people realised that a woman should be president.”

Samson Lim

“I voted for Hillary Clinton; she has been working her entire life to support working Americans, women, children, she stands for everything that I stand for. There’s no way that I would have ever voted for Donald Trump when he stands for everything I don’t stand for. It’s good to see everybody out here, the fact that there’s so many people out here means that it’s a huge election.”

Jo

“I voted for Trump and it was a really hard decision. What finally swayed me was the importance of the Supreme Court nominees in the future and how that will impact the next couple of generation.

Pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage, traditional marriage, those are there sorts of things that are important to me.”

Andrew

“I voted for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, mostly because I think Trump’s kind of an autocrat. I believe in freedom and liberty and I don’t want a despotic guy as my president.”

Joe

“I voted for [Green Party candidate] Jill Stein for president because she’s not part of the system that’s going on right now. The US is really behind the times where we have a two-party system that creates an ultimatum instead of an actual choice.”

Kaine

“I voted for Hillary and Tim Kaine because I think Donald Trump is pretty crazy. Some of the stuff Hillary talks about seems more uniting than what Trump says.”
