The Spill: Top 5 entertainment stories for Tuesday, July 23.

1. Royal fans are apparently furious over Meghan and Harry’s birthday wish to Prince George and please.

At this point, it seems Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just can’t win.

Every step and breath they take is apparently a sign of their growing rift with the rest of the Royal family… even when they simply wish a ‘Happy Birthday’ to their nephew.

You see, when the Kensington Palace Instagram page posted new images of Prince George for his sixth birthday, his uncle and aunt sent their well wishes under their Instagram account, @SussexRoyal.

Listen to Mamamia’s brand new entertainment podcast, The Spill. Post continues below.

“Happy Birthday! Wishing you a very special day and lots of love!,” the comment read.

Cue the Royal critics.

“He is the future KING. Treat him with respect,” one user commented. “He is HRH [His Royal Highness]!!!!!!!!!”

Another added: “You two need to give Prince George some respect… he is HRH Prince George, for you too.”

“Happy birthday to whom ?? You can’t even write the name of your future boss??,” another wrote to the new parents.

“Some of you really need to get a hobby,” one royal fan responded to the haters, defending the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

This isn't the first time the two have been criticised for their birthday messages.

When the pair celebrated Prince William's birthday last month, they wrote on Instagram: "Happy Birthday to the Duke of Cambridge!" It was described as "cold" by Royal critics.

2. Oh. Apparently Leonardo DiCaprio had a "no eye contact" rule on the set of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Ahead of the release of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in what is Leonardo DiCaprio's first film in four years, The Hollywood Reporter has published a story that explores the mystery that surrounds the actor and environmental activist's personal life.

But one detail has stood out above all the rest was a pretty intense rule for DiCaprio apparently has for his co-workers.

"Off-camera, DiCaprio has maintained a carefully crafted air of mystery," THR reported. "Some crew members on Once Upon a Time were instructed to avoid making eye contact with him, according to an on-set source."

That is... bizarre. I mean, seriously, we can't think of literally any reasons for why this would be necessary. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

The article also reported that at Cannes this year, DiCaprio missed every event besides the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood premiere. He didn't even attend a party to promote the environmental documentary And We Go Green, which he produced.

We would like an explanation please, Leonardo.

3. Riverdale's Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have reportedly split up.

According to intensifying rumours, teen dream team Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse of Netflix's Riverdale are no longer a couple after two years of dating, and we haven't felt this much third-party disappointment since the heartbreaking split of The OC's Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson.

While the couple have yet to confirm their breakup, fans at this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con noticed Reinhart, 22, and Sprouse, 26, failed to pose together, with US Weekly reporting that the pair were "rarely seen together". Apparently Sprouse was also heard confirming their split to a friend at the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con party.

Furthermore, a source has told E! News that the couple in fact broke up "earlier this summer" and are "intentionally keeping their distance from the other".

"The two are not living together this season," they said.

As expected, fans are devastated at the news, with many offloading their disappointment on Twitter.

So far, the reviews and ratings haven't been... glowing, however, there's clearly enough love and nostalgia for the series to get another run.

Fingers crossed, The Hills original Lauren Conrad makes an appearance next season.

5. Inside Eddie Murphy's notoriously private life with his Australian fiance Paige Butcher.

Iconic American comedian Eddie Murphy has had some well-publicised romantic relationships (think Spice Girl Mel B), but one thing about his current fiancée Paige Butcher isn’t as well-known – she’s an Aussie from Perth.

Butcher, 40, has been with the 58-year-old Coming to America star since 2012. They have two children together; Max, who was born in November last year, and three-year-old daughter Izzy.

To find out everything we know about the Australian woman who would become a successful model, and the mother of Murphy's ninth and 10th children, read our earlier, in-depth article right over here.

I'm calling B.S on the birthday wishes outrage. Anything the media can do to drum up this 'rift nonsense'.

Demanding that a 6 yr old be treated with "respect" and that archaic Royal titles are used is why Australia needs to be a Republic. It's time we said goodbye to these ridiculous Royals.
