Cass Thorburn denies controversial quotes about ex Karl Stefanovic's wedding.

In the wake of reports that Cassandra Thorburn made a number of comments about her ex-husband Karl Stefanovic’s wedding, the author has appeared on Studio 10 to vehemently deny she gave the quotes.

On Tuesday morning, Thorburn told the panel, “After two-and-a-half years, I’m not a news story. I’m just a mother who’s divorced from my ex-husband, and I’m trying to find my place back in the world.

“This constant harassment, every time my ex-husband’s in the news — which is often — they then come looking for me, my children, my mother.

“It’s not OK, and I don’t think as a society we should be accepting it.”

On Monday evening, it was reported that after arriving in Sydney from a trip to Melbourne, Thorburn told New Idea what she really thought of her ex-husband’s lavish Mexican nuptials.

“He’s thrown three weddings for goodness sake. Who needs three weddings in a year? Give us a break,” Cass was quoted as saying.

The journalist was also quoted as calling her ex “fake”, suggesting he was a narcissist and saying he had “a lot to hide”.

“Everything he says is about this fake person who lives in this fake castle, it’s not real,” she reportedly told New Idea.

The magazine also claimed Thorburn referred to Karl’s 2014 stunt of wearing the same suit every day for a year – saying it wasn’t what it was made out to be.

“Did anyone go and check every tape of every day?” she was quoted as telling the publication. “No. They just believed it because he said it.”

But on Studio 10, Thorburn said, “I didn’t do an interview with New Idea, so that’s one thing”.

Panellist Joe Hildebrand began to press her on the issue, asking “So none of these quotes that were attributed to you …?” to which Thorburn replied, “I did NO interview with New Idea. There was no interview”.

She went on to say the magazine had “made up” the quotes.

New Idea article says "told a reporter at Sydney airport" yet Thornton denies giving an interview to New Idea, so that makes me wonder what the circumstances were around that whole "reporter at Sydney airport" thing: was the reporter pretending to be a regular person who recognised her? All of us have feelings and frustrations, but often we know the difference between our private internal world that we share with people we trust as opposed to broadcasting to everyone.

Karl dignity? Cass nut job? That is the joke. She has done nothing wrong and he has done nothing right.

Repeatedly slamming the father of your children in numerous interviews is 'nothing wrong'? Calling the police on the father of your children during their commitment ceremony is 'nothing wrong'? I sincerely hope you are joking, because I think most people would say that was nut job vindictive behaviour; where as Karl has never once referenced her and took the high road, rising above her baiting. Karl has done nothing wrong, Cassandra has done nothing right but show why Karl is well rid of her.
