"We've decided to no longer continue." MAFS' Melissa and John have officially broken up.

Well. Happy goddamn Easter long weekend.

Married at First Sight’s last remaining couple, John Robertson and Melissa Walsh, have today announced their relationship has ended.

In a statement posted on John’s Instagram account, the 55-year-old wrote: “I had a fantastic time with Melissa on Married at First Sight… We lived together so easily and it reminded us both how wonderful it is to be with a partner. We thought there would be some issues when we got into the real world outside but decided to give it a go and see if there were true feelings between us.

“It has been a very difficult decision and it makes us both very sad to say we have decided to no longer continue as a couple. We still have the utmost respect for each other but have found significant differences in our lives and expectations in relationships.

“We have spoken at length about how to make it work and have been spending time with each other to let our relationship unfold but both agree it doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere . We still care deeply for each other as friends and will never forget the incredible times we have had together.”

John, who appeared on both season four and season five of Married at First Sight, and his partner Melissa, were one of only three couples to choose to stay together after the experiment formally ended.

Since the season’s finale, Charlene and Patrick, and Sarah and Telv, have also chosen to end their relationships.

Well that's an absolute downer for us all this Easter. Takes me right back to the breakup of Simon and Aleni. I'd better stop watching this show. The grief is too much for me.
