So you probably already know that each year, as the season changes, a few standout colours rise to the top.

This year there are several hues vying for our attention, but one colour that's quietly stealing the spotlight is 'butter yellow' — and I'm tipping that it won't be quiet for too long.

Now, butter yellow isn't your typical head-turning shade. It's a soft, creamy hue. It's subtle, yet it has a way of making an impact without being too loud.

I already know what some of you are thinking. You know how some shades of yellow can feel a little tricky to wear? Over the years as a stylist, I've heard from quite a few women that, while they love the idea of yellow, it can sometimes be a bit bold or hard to pull off. That's where butter yellow comes in.

This particular shade offers a softer, more versatile approach to yellow. I personally love a bit of both and that's the fun thing about fashion — there is no harm in trying it all to see if it's your vibe.

What I absolutely love about this shade is its versatility. You can really play with it in your wardrobe. Go bold with a head-to-toe monochromatic look for a standout statement, or keep it simple by pairing it with crisp whites for a fresh, clean vibe. It looks fantastic with denim, whether you're rocking deep indigo or a lighter wash. And if you're into pastels, mixing Butter Yellow with pastels like soft blues, mint or lavenders creates a dreamy, understated palette. And don't forget prints, animal prints and even a blue stripe look phenomenal with Butter Yellow.

But here's a little secret: you don't even have to wear it as clothing. butter yellow works beautifully with accessories too. Think bags, shoes, or jewellery. It's an easy way to add a touch of this lovely hue to your outfit without committing to a full look.

Butter yellow has quickly become my wardrobe's newest obsession. It's the perfect blend of soft and statement-making, adding a fresh vibe to any outfit.
