Better yet, ask 39 women. That’s exactly what we did.

We begged the You Beauty Facebook community to share their one hack that changed their routine, nay life, for the better. And as expected, they pull through.

Hair and makeup artist Monica Gingold shares her genius tips for finding where your contour should go, and how to apply it. Post continues below.

After I spray my setting spray on, I press it into my skin with my beauty blender while it’s still damp. It gives such a nice finish and makes my makeup last so much longer.

Elle

Looking down into a mirror is the best way to apply false eyelashes to yourself. After learning this I get them on the first go 99.5 per cent of the time!

Sjaala

I am 47 with combination, ageing skin. I tried dermaplaning after listening to a You Beauty Podcast and I'm now a dedicated convert. I recently shared this tip with my non-makeup-obsessed friends and it has blown their minds! I buy my razors from Daiso which I think are around $4 for a pack of three and dermaplane generally once a month or when I feel the peach fuzz is back. I use Jojoba oil on my face as a lubricant before shaving.

My skin is always softer, fuzz-free and feels like the proverbial baby's bum the next day. For the next few days, I go easy on the actives so it doesn't irritate my new baby bum face and then go back to my normal routine. I find that my skin texture is much better for it and makeup sits much nicer on the skin. It's also a weirdly satisfying thing to do on a boring Friday night.

Alex

I use eyeliner on the inside of my upper lashes instead of the outside for a really natural 'eye-opening' shape'. Also, if you smudge your mascara, wait for it to dry on your skin before wiping it off. It comes off so much easier!

Carla

Someone in the You Beauty Facebook group said they use powder before foundation and it is definitely a #lifehack. My makeup stays on ALL DAY!!! I use it before my foundation and again after I finish my makeup before my setting spray and mascara. I also use Tom Ford's Beauty Bronzing Powder, $105 and Hourglass' Ambient Lighting Powder in Mood Light, $73 as eyeshadow. They're both expensive but not when you're using it for cheeks and eyes.

Yasmin

I use a spray and mist my face with Mario Badescu's Spray before applying moisturiser. It makes it go so much further!!

Sophy

A squeeze of the Nars, Illuminator in Copacabana, $46 in with your moisturiser gives the most perfect dewy base. I'm also currently using the MALIN+GOETZ Vitamin E Face Moisturiser, $76.

Tiana

I use a damp beauty blender to apply highlighter instead of using a brush. It makes it glow so much more and you get less harsh lines. My favourite highlighter at the moment is Jeffree Star Cosmetics, Skin Frost In Sarcophagus, $42.95, however my previous go to was Becca Cosmetics' Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop, $57.

Amanda

Using concealer and powder on my nose to prevent my makeup from coming off where my glasses sit.

Peta

Blow drying your eyelashes after applying your mascara (I use ModelCo, Lashxtend Mascara, $25). It's the best curling technique ever. For someone that can't apply false lashes - this has been a lifesaver.

Leah

I apply winged eyeliner before I go to bed so I can save time in the morning. I use M.A.C's Liquidlast 24-hour Waterproof Liner, $39. It's waterproof and it does not budge! I just do a little touch up in the AM but the line is already there.

Emma

I love cutting my strip lashes into thirds to prevent them from lifting at the corners. It creates a custom pair that fits your eye shape. Also, I use any ends that I have cut off to fit my eye as individual lashes.

Emelia

The Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray, $49. I use the spray on my foundation brush whilst applying and then also when I’m finished to set everything. I have hypersensitive and very dry skin and it has completely changed how my make up stays on! My skin stays hydrated for hours. If I do feel it's drying out slightly I use some more of the spray to top things up and it hydrates perfectly.

Estrelita

I spray setting spray on my eye shadow brush before applying shadow. It keeps my oily eyelids from causing it to slide. The setting spray I use is the Essence, Instant Matt Makeup Setting Spray. I take a clean eye shadow brush, spray it on the bristles against a tissue and then dab it into the eyeshadow.

Courtney

Using a spoolie to get off any mascara that has transferred accidentally onto your eyelid or just underneath your eyes! Also using setting powder on the tips of your lower lashes to prevent mascara from running. It'll stop you from getting panda eyes by the end of the day too.

Teresa

Using eye cream on the fine lines around my mouth and forehead and using the Foreo, Iris Eye Massager, $179 with it. I'm about to turn 49 next week and my 36-year-old niece told me my forehead was unnaturally taught last time I saw her. I haven’t even had Botox yet.

Caitlin

Using a small bit of peachy colour corrector on the inner corner of my dark circles, before applying a light/bright concealer. I will never again go without this, it's absolutely brilliant.

Belinda

I dye my eyebrows myself with Reflectocil, Eyebrow Dye in Brown, $16.95 and it saves so much time compared to getting them done at the salon. It's cheaper too. The tube lasts for at least a year. I also use the 'Blue Black' shade for my eyelashes.

Joanne

Adding drops of rosehip oil to my foundation. It's not only saving my skin but my foundation also never looks dry and sketchy on my face at the end of the day.

Jennifer

I use the 'Wayne Goss' method for putting mascara on and have never looked back. You put an eyebrow comb through your mascara wand and brush it through the very ends of your lashes. You then put your mascara on regularly.

Missanhchanh

Urban Decay's All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray, $50 is fantastic. It made my makeup stay on from a Brisbane to Singapore to Chiang Mai flight which included long transit times. It took at least 14+ hour from the time I left home to when I arrived at my destination. I even went to a Chinese restaurant straight after in like 30+°C weather with my luggage still in the car boot.

Rachel

I use moisturiser as an eye make up remover. I just get a bit on my finger then put a thick layer on my lower and top lash line. I then fold a tissue in half and run the crease along my lash lines to remove the moisturiser which takes the eyeliner with it. I then do the same on my lashes.

Carolyn

Tubing mascara! Best discovery of my adult life and I get no more panda eyes! I love the ModelCo, LashXtend Mascara, $25 because it is easy to get and cheap.

Ange

This eyelash curler from Muji, replaced my much pricier Kevyn Aucoin curler and I couldn't be happier. It gives a great curl for my Asian lashes! I googled the product while I was in-store and it had really good reviews online, so I thought for $7, why not?

Leonie

For me, I love Kevyn Aucoin’s The Volume Mascara, $43 which has a tubing formula. I'm always doing my eyes last - since I have long lashes and always get weepy red eyes because I poke my eyeliner pencil from my waterline and into my actual eye. The Kevyn Aucoin mascara works and still lets me build my lashes. I can’t recommend it enough.

I was once even stopped by an assistant at a supermarket who asked if I had my lashes done. It was actually just one coat of the tubing mascara!

Laura

This may be controversial but I have black hair and when it’s been too long between eyebrow tinting appointments I use a little bit of my old mascara stick (new ones have too much mascara) and blend that in because it works so well to darken my eyebrows to a good colour. Otherwise, it's hard to find the right eyebrow pencils that are black enough usually.

I must say it’s a great way to use up mascaras that are running out and no longer work on your eyelashes.

Bec

Using No More Sweat Antiperspirant Face & Scalp, $17.99 before make up has been a miracle. I heard about it on a post on Instagram actually and went straight to grab it. It's so good in the Aussie heat.

Susan

White eyeliner on the lower waterline! It makes you look more awake and makes your eyes look bigger.

I use the NYX, Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, $9.95. I find a lot of eyeliners don't go the distance on the waterline but this one lasts all day and doesn't pull on the skin when you apply it.

Ally

I use sunscreen (Dermalogica's Pure Light SPF 50, $99) as a primer after moisturiser for a dewy look. I also use expensive eye cream in the fine lines around your mouth, eyes and forehead under foundation. A makeup artist did it once and I’ve done it ever since! I use La Prairie, Skin Caviar Luxe Eye Lift Cream, $655.

Phoebe

I love mixing the tiniest bit of Mecca Max, Liquid Light, $25 with my foundation. It gives such a subtle glow.

Debbie

Letting go of the need for perfectly applied lipstick. Instead, I just apply, smudge and go.

Yes. I’m THAT lazy.

Kim

A stippling brush! I used to paint my foundation or BB cream with a flat foundation brush and then dab it in with a beauty blender but since I discovered stippling brushes, those two steps became one.

Daniella

Spraying my blenders and brushes with a spritz of water or hydrating mist. It makes the product just glide on and I find I use less as a result!

Al

If you wear tennis sweatbands around your wrist, it'll stop water from running down your arms. I was washing my face standing at the sink one day and wondered whether they would work and of course, they did! Just wash them every now and again so they don’t get dank.

Sharon

I use liquid highlighter as eyeshadow and my Revlon Ultra High Definition Gel Lipcolor in Sunset as a blusher as I don’t love it as a lip colour.

Jess

Doing my makeup in my car, but obviously not while driving. The lighting is great and the visor mirror is the perfect height and angle for winged eyeliner.

Bree

Concealer under the eyes helps with eyeshadows or mascara that fall under the eyes during the day.

Ashleigh

Using a cotton T-shirt to wrap around my hair after washing. It dries my hair and cuts down on frizz, breakage and damage.

Jade

Invest in a mirror you can tilt to help you apply your mascara super well to the roots, along with getting up close to apply your makeup in general.
