Nude lips and BIG LASHES: The best Emmys beauty looks to copy for the summer party season.

We’re calling it: Monday’s 2019 Emmys red carpet fashion was some of the best we’ve seen in a while.

Considering it’s been a bloody great year for TV – dominated by powerful performances in female led productions – it’s not surprising our favourite celebrities Brought. It.

The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards purple carpet had it all: Colourful princess gowns. Metallics. Billowing sleeves. Jewel tones. Florals. All the pink and red.

Side note – we chatted all things Emmys on The Spill podcast below. Post continues after audio.

But let’s bench the fashion for a sec because we need to talk about the beauty.

From low maintenance nude lips, big, fluttery eyelashes to slicked back hair and bobs, this year’s looks are legit your new inspiration for the upcoming summer party season.

Here’s the very best makeup and hair from the 2019 Emmys red carpet.

1. Nude lips and big lashes.

Much like Fleabag actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the nude lip pretty much dominated this year’s Emmys.

This is great for summer because, low maintenance. Plus, it doesn’t matter so much if a nude lippie ends up all over your chin post-food.

Pair it with big, fluttery lashes a la Orange Is The New Black’s Dascha Polanco and This Is Us star Mandy Moore, and you’re set.

Check out this look as seen on: Emilia Clarke, Sarah Goldberg, Dascha Polanco, Mandy Moore, Zendaya, Angela Bassett, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Maisie Williams, Joey King, Jodie Comer, Michelle Williams, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Eliza Scanlen, Kerry Washington, Kristen Bell,  Indya Moore, Aidy Briant … basically everyone.

2. A bold lip.

Yes, we just said it was all about the nude lip. It was. But we can't ignore the slightly smaller but just as punchy group of women who decided the Emmys was the time to whip out a bold lip.

And by 'bold lip', we're not just talking about red here. Stars like Gwendoline Christie, Naomi Watts, Carice van Houten, Christina Applegate, Jameela Jamil, Brittany Snow, Viola Davis and Nathalie Emmanuel wore statement lips in merlot, fuchsia, coral and purple.

Not so food-friendly, but swiping on a wash of bright colour is the easiest way to look pulled together when you've only got minutes to get ready. Noted.

3. Tonal makeup.

Tonal makeup isn't new but it's one of the quickest and easiest ways to look fresh, on-trend and like you've put effort into your makeup when you haven't.

All you have to do is match your eyeshadow to your lipstick to your blush. If you really want to get nifty, you can use one cream product on all three and BOOM, you're done.

Check out how actresses including Sydney Sweeny, Sophie Turner, Sandra Oh, Taraji P. Henson, Greta Lee and Julia Garner wore this trend.

Personally a beautiful red lip is always a winner in the glam stakes ...... I love a nude lip but I feel that’s find of an everyday off to the shops/work look .
