2022 will be year of the wedding. Here are 9 new makeup trends you need to know about.

If you're one of the poor lambs who has been planning a wedding over the last year or so, chances are you've had to postpone your big day approximately 94 times. Yes? Gah.

And for the couples that chose to go ahead with their original plans, things were... different. No giant guest lists. No standing. No dancing. No over-the-top extravagance.

But after a year (or two) of no gatherings, things are finally looking up - with 2022 set to be one of the biggest years for tying the knot.

Watch: Oh! On that note, fancy a round-up of all the royal wedding fails in one place? Post continues below.

But what will weddings look like in 2022? And how has the pandemic changed bridal trends?

To help you nail down at least one part of your big day, we're here to bring you up to speed on the beauty front. Specifically, your makeup plans.

Because it's a fickle game, wedding makeup.

You want to level it up, while still being able to look fresh and glowy and you know... yourself. And obviously you want something that will be able to last throughout the whole day, all the way through to a late night boogie on the dance floor.

Tricky! Delicate!

To help take the stress out of it, Mamamia has pulled together some of the biggest bridal makeup trend predictions for 2022.

We'll just be over here... waiting for our invite.

1. Jewelled eyes.

Yes! Face jewels! Don't give us that look. Take a squiz at any red carpet this year, and you'll notice it's one of the biggest beauty trends of the year (see: almost every celebrity at the Met Gala).

As we shift away from traditional bridal glam, brides in 2022 will turn towards more creative makeup looks, and we predict jeweled eye looks will be leading the trend.

You heard it here first!

2. 'Clean' beauty look.

Not as in 'clean ingredients' - we're talking clean as in sleek, minimalistic beauty. It's basically just a revamped version of the 'no makeup' makeup - and it's all over TikTok right now (just search #cleanlook and scroll).

Characterised by a sheer skin-boosting base, lightweight mascara, and a swipe of tinted balms and gloss, we're predicting the clean beauty look will be one of the biggest bridal trends in 2022.

Think Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner's off-duty makeup looks.

3. Bold lips.

While the humble nude lip used to be the go-to for brides, bold and bright lipstick colours will dominate next year, with brides opting for a statement lip over eyes.

Colour like bright coral, red and fuchsia will be paired with natural skin and a subtly defined eye. While it has a minimalist feel, it's a striking look that definitely makes a statement without feeling OTT.

4. Milky bronzer.

Creamy, brown tones are in, friends. Worn as a monochromatic makeup look across the eyes and on the lips, this particular colour palette will instantly add some warmth and definition to any complexion.

It's soft, easy to wear and although subtle, can make a big impact.

5. Lilac lids.

Want to add a hint of colour to your look? Don't be afraid to switch it up!

This year lilac eyeshadow was EVERYWHERE on the red carpet and the runway. Either worn bold and smokey or combined with a shimmering shadow for a more subtle look - we think lilac shadow is going to be one of the main highlights when it comes to bridal beauty in 2022.

The best part? It compliments all skin tones.

You can either go all out or opt for a more low-key version, as seen on Hailey Bieber:

6. Subtle shimmer.

Off the back of the eyelighter makeup trend, a hint of shimmer on your lids is the easiest way to brighten and enhance your eyes.

Shading is officially taking the back seat, as glowy, sheer, shimmery washes of colour have a *major* moment.

Add a subtle pink lip and a swipe of bronzer across your cheekbones to complete the look.

7. Blush tones.

A sweep of monochromatic pink makeup across your eyes, cheeks and lips is an easy way to add a pop of colour, while keeping your look fresh and radiant. It's a classic look that never goes wrong.

If you're looking for inspo, Mandy Moore wore the prettiest pink makeup on her wedding day:

8. Glossy skin.

If you want to level up your natural makeup look, beautiful glossy skin will help lift and shape your features.

Paired with a statement lip, it's an effortless look that will fool your guests into thinking the whole thing planning-a-wedding thing was completely stress free (HA!).

The key to this look is cream products - so it's perfect for those with drier skin types.

9. Golden touch.

Golden eye makeup looks beautiful on all skin tones and is an easy way to add a warm glow to your bridal makeup look. Teamed with fluttery lashes and defined brows, a shimmery touch of gold across your lids will make your eyes pop.

You can also opt for matching tones and add to your cheekbones to create a balance for that lit-from-within glow.

Love!
