Tilda Swinton is known for her high-fashion ice-queen look: pale skin, pale hair, penetrating eyes. She’s also known for taking on ethereal roles in independent films.

But not any more. In the new Judd Apatow/Amy Schumer comedy, Trainwreck, Swinton plays a magazine editor – the kind of editor who commissions stories like “Does Garlic Make Semen Taste Different?” and “10 Ugliest Celebrity Kids Under 6”. She had a favourite story to commission: “There was a moment about ‘What’s the hottest Asian country you can be from? Would it maybe be even hotter to be North Korean than South?’ I can’t remember, but it was ridiculous.”
Her transformation from statuesque transcendent beauty to glam magazine editor is quite extraordinary.
Swinton told the Huffington Post that she likes the fact that she looks completely different: “I’m delighted to say that I’m unrecognisable. I don’t know whether one would really want to be recognisable in this role. It’s a lot of makeup and a kind of tandoori tan and a wig, and that’s all it takes… You just have to go to a big makeup counter in a big department store and you, too, can get that look.”
But Tilda and Tandoori Tan aren’t the only unexpected pairing we’ve seen out and about recently. Tilda Swinton was recently photographed with Kayne West. So was the time they spent together memorable? Tilda says not really. They ate something delicious and talked about his apparently broken Apple Watch: “We were seated near each other at the dinner of my great friend Haider Ackermann… I had never met him before and I sat in between him and Haider and we had dinner. It was a very delicious dinner. He showed me his Apple Watch, which didn’t seem to work. And what else? Now I can’t remember what we discussed. I can’t exactly say it was a very in-depth encounter. I sat next to him for dinner.” And had a pretty cool photo taken outside:
Tilda Swinton is a remarkable character. Tilda Swinton has a husband, a boyfriend, twin boys, four springer spaniels, and a white-speckled hen called Jim. Earlier this year it was revealed that she didn’t like the school her kids were going to, so she started her own.
Swinton has previously told People that her personal style is “pure function” over fashion: “I’m really not that interested in fashion, to be honest, or knowledgeable about it. I tend to wear clothes by my friends and [choose] comfort every time.”

I feel like such a nob-head. I assumed that because Tilda prefers a pared down look when it's possible for her to look (in my opinion) much prettier, that she must be gay. Then I got to the part about her husband and boyfriend and realised I had slapped a label on her based on her appearance. And then I made a judgement call about the boyfriend. Honestly, I'm sticking with my views about monogamy because, you know.. divorce is always an option. But yeah I wonder how many other people I've casually labelled. Yikes.
I've always admired how Tilda promotes her natural self and is so comfortable with it - she's an incredibly talented actor and so stylish!
