The Block is done for another year, and this season saw five couples competing to redesign St Kildaâs Gatwick Private Hotel â a long dilapidated boarding house thatâs become synonymous with Melbourneâs underbelly.
But not any more.
Despite the drama-filled episodes (threatened walkouts, pregnancies and meltdowns) each couple delivered premium apartments that sold for between $2.859 million and $3.02 million, and hereâs what the final homes looked like.

Sara and Hayden â $3.02 million.
Although viewers were divided on their win, the Sydney couple ultimately walked away with a profit of $545,000 (plus another $100,000 in prize money). The judges didnât love all of their rooms and they were often criticised for their styling, but the buyerâs had the final say, and clearly they saw no issue with it. We have to say though, their light-filled terrace is spectacular.

Ah, the current in vouge style - gentrified. Nice.
They all look the same to me. If youâd told me one person designed the whole lot, Iâd believe it. I liked those leather couches, and thatâs about it. I know the point is to appeal to the wisest possible audience, because you want lots of people to bid, but a little personality wouldnât go astray.
Especially when so many people buy a place then start changing things anyway.
Some of them look ok, but they look (to me anyway) like display homes or the pictures from Ikea catalogues. As in, they look ok, but at the same time I don't think I'd want to live in them. Like, cool there's a 'floating fireplace' but if that's the lounge, where's the spot for the telly? Where are they supposed to watch reality tv? ;)
