"We’re having a baby boy." Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic are expecting their first child.

Channel Nine journalists Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic are expecting their first child together.

The husband and wife, who were formerly part of the Today Show team, made the statement today on Sylvia’s Instagram with a selfie simply captioned: “We’re having a baby boy and we’re totally over the moon!!”

Shortly after, Peter posted his own announcement, captioning a second selfie: “Soon to be a family of three and we are rapt! Good thing I’m already match fit with the whole no sleep thing.”

The exciting news comes just days after the Channel Nine newsreader cryptically discussed her plans to start having children on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show, responding to recent pregnancy rumours.

“What’s your thoughts on a child? Is everyone trying to push you now that you’re married?” Kyle Sandilands asked the journalist last week.

“Oh that’s been happening from probably the first day of our honeymoon I think?” Sylvia coyly replied. “Oh well, you can’t really plan these things, can you? It happens when it happens.”

“A lot of people are saying you and Pete won’t be able to get pregnant because you’re working at different ends of the day,” Kyle joked, to which she replied, “Well I can assure you we see each other enough.”

It sounds like she was almost trying to tell us something…

Sylvia, 33, and Pete, 37, wed in Kangaroo Valley, New South Wales, in April 2017 after a 10-month engagement.

Pete popped the question during a European holiday in 2016 while visiting a vineyard in the Bordeaux region.

“It was beautiful,” Sylvia said of the proposal.

The couple began dating almost four-and-a-half years ago, after working together as the 2014 summer hosts of the Today show.

We are absolutely thrilled to hear their baby news.

Congratulations, Sylvia and Pete!
