1. Police charge eight men with hundreds of sexual offences against a teenage girl.
Trigger warning: This post deals with child sexual abuse.
Eight men in Western Australia have been charged with hundreds of horrific sexual abuse offences comitted against a 13-year-old girl.
The men are currently charged with a total of 503 offences, including the sexual penetration of a child, filming and distributing child pornography and keeping the child in sexual servitude.
According to ABC News, police have confirmed that one of the men charged is the girl’s father. Members of the group range in age between 35 and 47 years old.
Police have obtained more than four million child pornography images and 200,000 videos belonging to just one member of the group.
“It’s disgusting material. There’s no words to describe it,” Detective Superintendent Glenn Feeney of Perth Police told media.
“The information retained from these electronic devices will clearly support the charges that have been proffered and also be used to continue to target other predators who are targeting children online.”
It is alleged the girl was abused over a period of two years, since she was 11.

2. Postman offers heartwarming gift to the boy who likes to read junk mail.
A postman in the United States has answered the prayers of a 12-year-old boy.
The child’s wish was fairly simple: To have something to read.
Postman Ron Lynch initially caught the child, little Matthew Flores, reading junk mail.
The boy then asked if the postman had any extra mail for him to read, and Lynch learned the boy didn’t have any books and could not afford to get some.
Flores couldn’t even afford bus fare to travel to the library.
So Mr Lynch took the boy’s wish to Facebook — calling for his friends to send books.
The most subsequently went viral, with hundreds of book arriving from all around the world, Huffington Post reports.
3. Women accused of killing her child refused bail.
A mother accused of killed her six-week-old baby in Newcastle this week has been refused bail.
The 26-year-old woman appeared in court today accused of slashing her baby’s throat.
According to ABC News, the magistrate has ordered the woman undergo psyhiatric assessment.

4. Woman’s clothing store employee sent home for wearing the brand’s own “career” shorts.
A young woman has snapped a photo of herself in the outfit that was allegedly deemed “too revealing” for her to work in.
Sylva Stoel from South Dakota said she was sent home from work at JC Penny after the manager took issue with the 17-year-old’s shorts. Ironically, though, Stoel’s shorts were purchased from JC Penny’s own “career style” section, Today US reports.
Stoel reportedly quit on the spot after the manager approached her regarding her attire.
While Today reports the shorts are indeed against the company’s dress code, Ms Stoel has said the issue is common in a culture where dress codes discriminate against women.
“I’m very satisfied that people are paying attention to the cause and starting a discussion on dress codes in the workplace and at schools, and how we view women,” Ms Stoel told Today.
5. Man arrested on historic bombing charges.
A man has been arrested in relation to bombing attacks that killed four people in Sydney in the 1980s.
Leonard John Warwick, 68, was arrested this morning and is assisting police, Fairfax Media reports.
Mr Warwick has previously been named as a prime suspect in the case.

I don't know if this makes me a bad person or not, but as soon as I heard of the young baby with the throat slashed the other day, I immediately thought mother was an "ice addict". However, I'm not sure an ice addict would be instructed to undergo psychiatric evaluation...
Certainly not condoning her actions in any way or making excuses. Regardless of the reason, she should never be allowed to care for any more children, nor see the light of day again.. I suppose it's my mind's way of coming to a conclusion because I'm struggling to understand how anyone, let alone a mother could slash the throat of their own baby.
