As soon as Osher Günsberg unmasked the Robot on The Masked Singer, he rushed to the hospital.

Last night in probably the most predictable final of all time, we unmasked Gorgi Coughlan, Rob Mills and Cody Simpson on The Masked Singer Australia.

But the fourth reveal of the night was anything but predictable.

Osher Günsberg had just orchestrated the unmasking of Monster and Wolf and was backstage in the ad break having a wee, when he decided to have a quick peek at his phone.

Here’s the reveal of the winner Robot. Post continues after video.

His wife Audrey had flicked him a text – she had gone into labour.

Ever the professional Osher walked back onstage, unmasked the winner of the show Robot (aka, Simpson) and then in his words “drove VERY safely home and to the hospital”.

Osher revealed the behind-the-scenes tid-bit on Twitter last night while watching the final, no doubt with his beautiful son Wolfgang or “Wolfie” who is now eight weeks old in his arms.

When Wolfie was 12 days old, Osher and Audrey sat down to record an episode of Better Than Yesterday where the couple, who met in 2014 on the set of The Bachelor and married in 2017, talked about the birth of their second child.

They also share Georgia, who is Audrey’s daughter from another relationship.

“Foolishly I don’t know how it happened, but I ended up having two TV shows I was working on at the same time both coming to an incredibly tense production period around their climax at the same time as baby was in his last three weeks of gestation,” Osher said on the podcast.

“Yeah talk about living on the edge,” replied Audrey.

“I had 21 days of booked work,” Osher added. “And these are like 14 hour long days, there was no way to get out of it.”

Luckily, his wife saw the comedy in not having her husband around to help her in the final stages of pregnancy.

“We have the most hilarious life. Of course I can’t do any lifting, groceries, getting around, picking up last bits and pieces before baby comes… I can’t ask Osher – he’s at work. It was interesting,” said Audrey.

Osher is confident his son can read a call-sheet – why else would he have decided to come knocking on the final day of filming?

“Shooting the grand final of Masked Singer we took a break in the middle of it, and you’d come along to see… I was so stoked you were there. You, your mum and G went home (in the shooting break) and we had a few more hours to go.

“In a break between the the second to last segment – like we’re about to series wrap – I go to my dressing room because we had a 15 minute break.

“I go to have a wee and I grab my phone and there’s a text from you. ‘Is your baby bag packed?’ ‘Yeah it’s in the back of the car,’ I replied. ‘Does it need more clothes in it?’ you asked. ‘Nah, there’s enough for four days,’ I said.”

At that point Osher called her and asked, “Are you having contractions??”

They were seven minutes apart.

“I went back in and shot another hour of television,” laughed Osher. “I finished work, and everyone is cracking champagne and high fiving and I’m smoke – I’m gone.”

“I felt terrible, I told you to hang out… we had time,” Audrey told him.

“F*** that,” replied Osher. “They all understood. I just vanished.”

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing from there, in fact Audrey found herself incensed in the hospital. She was all hooked up and having her contractions monitored when the midwife turned to Osher and asked, “So who wins the Bachelor? It must be fun shooting it?

“I saw your face change,” Osher said during the podcast episode. “I was pretty annoyed… you were too,” said Audrey. “I was pissed off.”

After that, Audrey didn’t have a contraction for 20 minutes. She thinks it’s because she was so annoyed her body shut down.

“We have profile… but we’re not famous people. But now I understand why Beyonce bought the entire floor of a hospital,” said Osher.

They ended up going home for another 10 days of contractions.

Audrey then awoke to a huge contraction at 3am in the morning and it was go time (again) and this time Wolfie was ready to enter the world.

As Osher wrote in his birth announcement post, “We are in love and drowning in gratitude, oxytocin and new baby smell”.

But since Osher’s admission on Twitter that their birth journey started the night of the final of The Masked Singer, fans are now confident there’s a second meaning to his name.

Apparently (according to the Twitter sphere) Wolfie is named after… Millsy the Wolf? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
