All the times Meryl Streep was totally and completely 'overrated'.

Ugh. Meryl Streep. Isn’t she just the worst?

No talent. No wit. No class. And if you don’t agree with me, I have the King of Truth and Twitter, Donald J. Trump, on my side. So there.

Because the living breathing version of Lord Voldemort King Trump has shed light on the fact that Meryl Streep is totally and completely overrated, why not take a trip down memory lane, and revisit all the ways she’s deeply disappointed us over the years?

1. The Devil Wears Prada

Remember when Streep played a kick-ass magazine editor so damn well we we’re all simultaneously terrified and awestruck?

Um… I mean… she won a Golden Globe for the performance too, but umm, was still totally overrated like Trump said. Um. Yeah. Um… let’s just skip to the next one and forget I ever mentioned this.

2. Kramer vs. Kramer

Won an Academy Award, won a Golden Globe, paved her way into the world’s collective heart forever and ever.

But, like… so what? I made a Carbonara from scratch last night and won a hula-hooping competition in Year 5. That’s basically the same thing.

3. Mamma Mia

What about the time when critics praised Streep for being “crucial to transforming what could have been a weak soap opera into a vibrant work of historical fiction implicitly critiquing postwar America’s stifling culture of domesticity”?

She did turn what could’ve been a saccharine la-la musical into a $609 million box office hit, and created a smash hit soundtrack out of it, but no big deal, you guys. Nothing to see here. Just more of Meryl Streep being totally not even that good.

4. Angels in America

Streep only won a Golden Globe, an Emmy and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role in one of the most critically acclaimed television miniseries of our time.

I don’t know why everyone keeps talking about it. I could do that too. So could King Trump – we all know how many awards he won for his cameo appearance in Home Alone 2, a film that received a stellar rating of 24/100 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Oh, wait. That was zero. He won zero awards.

5. Julie & Julia

SURE, Streep won a Critics’ Choice Award and a Golden Globe for her role as chef Julia Child but… erm…

Okay, fine – she was totally bloody awesome and I may or may not have cried tears of pure bloody happiness.

6. Her Wikipedia page

We’d be here all day if I went through every way Meryl Streep has impressed us, so let’s just remember this:

Meryl Streep has been nominated for (and won) so many goddamn awards, her Wikipedia page has been split in two – the list of her achievements is so lengthy it simply doesn’t fit on the one page.

SHE HAS AN ENTIRE WIKIPEDIA PAGE TO LIST HER AWARDS, PEOPLE. AN ENTIRE GODDAMN PAGE.

I bet my kidney her trophy cabinet is bigger than my entire apartment.

But, yeah, Trump. She’s so totally overrated, isn’t she? Totally.

What’s your favourite Meryl Streep movie?

Trump ( or Twitler as I like to call him) just reeks of insecurity. It's incredibly pathetic.

Les Grossman 7 years ago

Yeah, he is more insecure than a Democrats email server. Ok, maybe not that much, but clearly he is incapable of achieving anything of note in his life.

The Russians have some very interesting documents on Trump. Putin has no allegiance to the West.

Sabotage Clinton.

Blackmail Trump.

Trump hit piece 108.

Still elected President.

Zepgirl 7 years ago

We know he was elected. We're allowed to criticise him, secure in the knowledge that that vote isn't going to be changed.

He will be the leader of the free world for the next four years. Are you planning on keeping a running tally on every single site that speaks about him in a negative manner? Or just this one? If so, you're going to be pretty darn busy. Maybe you should just stick with representing film stars and dancing to T'Pain's songs.

Les Grossman 7 years ago

Nope, will stop when MM in the interest of fairness and balance publishes a single pro Trump article to balance its news. I'm not asking to make things up, but the partisan anti Trump procession here isn't serving the readership nor I suspect helping the sites credibility.

I can see what you're saying, I really can, especially in reference to your final word. However, this site makes it very obvious that they are a left leaning feminist site and their articles reflect those values, and they're not in the business of showing 'balance' by publishing articles that are pro-Trump.

The "partisan anti Trump procession", but in the mainstream media, was the reason I was completely shocked by the election result.
