1. “I was a bit of a nightmare.” Nicole Kidman on the roughest patch during marriage to Keith Urban.

Nicole Kidman has played a lot of characters over the years. Some, lovely and inspiring. Others, gritty and terrifying.

Her latest role in the upcoming film The Destroyer is the latter. The 50-year-old actress is hardly recognisable as LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results.

Appearing on The Graham Norton Show, Kidman said this role in particular put a strain on her marriage with Aussie country singer Keith Urban.

“It’s really a tough, gritty film, which is something I’d never done and I am always looking for new territory to explore. My husband was like, ‘When is this going to end?’” she said.

“As an actor, you take on things and some you can shed and walk away from and others you can’t. The character had to seep out of my pores and I didn’t know how to perform that, so I just had to live it. I was a bit of a nightmare!”

2. Why Meghan Markle never gets her hair cut.

If you study photos of The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle closely, you'll notice the length of her hair hasn't changed in the last 12 months.

Not because her hair doesn't grow, but because she likely uses a hair cutting technique to avoid dramatic changes in her hairstyle.

“Meghan Markle looks as if she gets ‘dusting’ as her hair always looks shiny and healthy but without changing length," Jack Merrick-Thirlway, senior stylist at Neville Hair & Beauty, told Yahoo UK.

'Dusting' is the term given to getting regular, teeny tiny hair cuts more often, rather than a big chop every six months to a year. Doing this often like Meghan reportedly does means your hair always look healthy and freshly cut, but never dramatically shorter.

That's fine and all, but what about the extra cost that would go into dusting, not to mention finding the time to go to the hairdressers once a month?

When you're a royal, we guess it's probably a lot easier to make someone come to your house to cut your hair.

Don't stress though. On Mamamia's You Beauty podcast, our resident beauty guru Leigh Campbell said it's fine for the regular person to get a trim once every four months or so to keep split ends from getting out of control.

Phew.

3. A pilot spotted his celebrity crush on a plane and things escalated. Fast.

You'd be lying if you said you didn't have a celebrity "free pass".

It's a conversation that light-heartedly happens in many relationships, and the idea is almost entirely premised on the fact that your significant other will never have the opportunity to cheat on you with a celebrity.

For one pilot, his free pass Olivia Munn, walked straight onto his flight and oh...

Then he... froze.

"It’s a short word, easy to spell, difficult to define and impossible to live without. Love is work, but most of all love is realizing that every hour, every minute, every second was worth it because you did it together," he added.

The former Bachelorette star added that when he said those three words (which we think might be I LOVE YOU) he meant it, and that she was worth fighting for.

Aww.

5. "All hell broke loose." The heated night Princess Diana confronted Camilla about her affair.

New details have emerged inside the night the late Princess Diana finally confronted Camilla Parker Bowles over her affair with Prince Charles.

In secretly recorded tapes for Andrew Morton’s 1992 biography, Diana: Her True Story, Princess Diana spoke candidly about the difficult conversation with her then-husband’s mistress.

The Sun reports the tense face-to-face discussion happened at Annabel Elliot’s 40th birthday party in 1989, at which “all hell broke loose” when Prince Charles awkwardly realised both of the women in his life – his wife and his lover – would be in the same room together.

At the time of the party, Princess Diana and Prince Charles were still married, and according to The Express, Charles’ secret relationship with the now Duchess of Cornwall had just started back up again.

On the tapes, Diana told Morton she decided to confront Camilla after her and Prince Charles “suddenly disappeared during the party”.
