14 tweets that totally sum up how Australians feel about the, err, non-leadership spill.

SO.

On Tuesday morning, Australians woke up to the news there had been a leadership spill.

Well… kind of.

Peter Dutton, the politician who looks a lil’ bit like a potato, tried to take over the leadership of the coalition.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull wasn’t having it.

Turnbull ended up defeating Dutton 48-35 in a leadership ballot in the Liberal party room.

As leadership spills are now our national sport, Aussies got to tweetin’ bout it.

The far right won't swing in this country. We've learned from observations of the consequences of such backwardness in other parts of the world and women are scared enough by it that they would never vote again for someone like Abbott. Queensland is not the litmus test for the rest of this country, in fact, they are their own country in how they think. Let's leave them to their last-century ways and the rest of us can keep moving forward. The Libs should be careful about how conservative their new conservative members are. Doing business with the Mormons might mean they lose their grip on the party altogether, saying goodbye to their Catholic heritage forever. (Here's hoping).
