"We left because it was sh*t." Karl Stefanovic's son on what actually happened at the wedding.

Ever since Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough’s extravagant Mexico wedding earlier this month, tabloid headlines about Karl’s ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn, and her reported strong opinion on the “over-the-top” celebrations, have been rife.

Last week, New Idea reported that Cassandra, who split with the Today host in September 2016, made an “extraordinary outburst” following the wedding, in which she reportedly said that their children – Jackson, 19, Ava, 13, and River, 12 – travelled with their father to Mexico, but did not attend the wedding ceremony.

“They were told they never had to go [to the actual wedding]. My 19-year-old has assured me they did not attend,” she is quoted in New Idea as saying.

“They [had] to go [to Mexico] and my eldest son went to protect them because at the commitment ceremony they tried to force my children, remember.”

There have been mixed reports on whether the kids attended any of the celebrations at One&Only Palmilla resort, but the magazine reports the 47-year-old said they did not.

Now, in an exclusive interview with Daily Mail, Cassandra and Karl’s eldest son Jackson has confirmed his mother’s comments.

The teenager told the Daily Mail he didn’t attend the ceremony, and neither did his brother or sister, who apparently “didn’t want to go”.

“My brother and sister didn’t want to go, and I was not going to leave them on their own so I looked after them,” he said.

“I figure at their age they may not have an understanding of watching a parent get re-married. They might not understand it’s just a parent moving on.

He did, however, catch up with the couple afterwards, but left “because it was sh*t”.

His revelation comes after rumours he and his girlfriend Anna Blackwell had been kicked out of the wedding.

“I left with my girlfriend and they said it was because we were too drunk which is just stupid,” Jackson told the publication.

“We left because it was sh*t.”

The same New Idea article also claimed Cassandra criticised Jasmine for having “five makeup artists” and also took aim at her ex-husband for dragging out the nuptials.

“He’s thrown three weddings for goodness sake. Who needs three weddings in a year? Give us a break,” she was quoted as saying.

Cassandra has stated the comments in the New Idea article were fake and denies speaking to the publication altogether.

The Daily Telegraph later reported the comments were made at an airport cafe with a journalist named Jonathan Marshall.

“I did NO interview with New Idea. There was no interview,” Cassandra said on Studio 10.

Whatever was said, it sounds as though Karl and Cassandra’s children are just as fed up by the swirling wedding rumours as we are.

It is certainly not easy for Karl's 3 children to see their father marrying another women after he has made love to his wife (their mother and created them together). Not wise Karl.

Oh, for God's sake. Are people meant to stay celibate after their marriage breaks up? It might be difficult for the kids to come to terms with their parent moving on, but it's a preposterous idea to suggest it's "not wise" to do so. At the end of the day, the sex life of the parent is no business of the child.
