"We slept in separate beds." Christie Hayes on her split from second husband, Daniel White.

Earlier this year, former Home and Away actress Christie Hayes announced her separation from her second husband Daniel White.

In an Instagram post, Christie, who married Daniel after a three year engagement in August 2016, explained that the couple were “strictly flatmates” in the lead up to their separation.

And now speaking to Stellar magazine, the mother-of-two said that the split was liberating.

“It was the most liberating feeling when I finally came out because the reality is that Daniel and I slept in separate beds,” the 32-year-old told Stellar.

“While I think that’s a noble thing to do for a certain amount of time, I don’t think there’s any glory in just staying together… I have nothing but love, he does for me also,” she added.

The breakup was announced on Christie’s Instagram in April, as she apologised to her followers for being AWOL over the last few months, saying she’d had a lot of “welcome changes”.

“Daniel and I went our separate ways quite a while back now,” she wrote.

“We were strictly flat mates in every way for over a year and a half, and ladies you have to know your worth and not settle for anything less than happiness!”

Christie and Daniel are parents of two sons, Hendrix Walter White, four, and Harley White, three, and Christie wrote that their sons remain their priority.

Her post was positive and concluded with her expressing her excitement for the year ahead.

Speaking to Mamamia in 2018, the radio host explained her relationship with sex during and after pregnancy.

Christie fell pregnant just six weeks after welcoming her first son, Hendrix. Eleven months later, she gave birth to Harley.

“Nine months to go without sex is quite a long time, particularly when you don’t have children. When you have children, nine months is not a big deal,” she explained.

“But I missed my husband, and we were kind of missing one another, and in the midst of having a newborn baby and all the fog and all the haze, to find that five minutes together was a really welcome change.”

Do.. Do people not realise that when we 'fall in love' it's actually our brains pumping us full of dopamine, and this drugged up effect lasts around 18 months? That’s 2 years of being totally drugged up. SO MANY couples get together and start having kids in that 'magic' window and then realise afterwards they don't really like each other without the dopamine. Two marriages by 32? Sheesh.
