The Brownlow Medal proved that the black tie gown has been overtaken.

If there’s anything last night’s Brownlow Medal taught us, it’s how much the red carpet has changed in recent years. Goodbye, floaty frocks and more importantly, hello jumpsuits.

Yep, the humble jumpsuit that was once only acceptable on summer holidays has inched its way into onto the red carpet scene.

Jesinta Campbell and Nadia Bartel proved this, and then some, last night.

Rather than opting for the stock standard strapless/glittery/poufy number; Jesinta and Nadia instead chose to tap into something a little different.

Something that wouldn't normally be considered "black tie", but definitely was. (Post continues after gallery.)

The Brownlow Medal 2016 red carpet.

Nadia wore a gold, beaded J'aton Couture jumpsuit with flared sleeves and a backless design; while Jesinta went with stylish black in a cut-out Stephanie Chehade number.

Close behind was Annie Nolan (girlfriend of Bulldogs player Liam Picken), who wore a custom made Carl Navè tuxedo-style suit and tie. Paired back with glossy blonde curls and a fierce plum lip, Annie was polished, sleek, and damn sexy.

Annie's suit choice wasn't just a fashion one, however.

She used her personal Instagram account to tag her pantsuit as a major statement about gender equality and bullying, including the hashtags #bullyfreebrownlow and #equalpartnership.

Long live the jumpsuit, we say.
