It’s Christmas time at The Book Circle and that means only one thing: books under the tree (and plenty of time to read them). The holiday season is the perfect time to get stuck into a good book, and on this episode of The Book Circle we have three fabulous authors who are more than willing to make recommendations.

This month Cheryl Akle is speaking to Kirstie Clements, Matthew Reilly and Merle Parrish about their new books. They talk about a range of things, from the challenge of writing something new, to dabbling in the world of baking, and what they’ll be reading this Christmas. So, whether you’re after a novel for yourself, or in need of a Christmas present for a special bookworm, The Book Circle is here to help.

Definitely going to have to checkout Tongue in Chic! Sounds like a good summer beach read.

I have recently devoured all of Kate Morton's books, can't believe I hadn't found her before now! She is a genius. The Shadow Fog in particular is superb. I'm currently indulging my inner history nerd and reading Alison Weir's latest biography - Elizabeth of York. If you are mad for english royal history, get your hands on this, absolutely fascinating and well researched. I also just read The Lost Wife which was great, it's an epic love story set in the holocaust.

I've been devouring Kate Moreton as well and I also recently discovered her! The Shifting Fog shook me to my core and I've now almost finished 'The Forgotten Garden'. The Distant Hours is on my shelf and will be the next one I read of hers. If you love English royal history I hope you've read some Philippa Gregory, you'll have to pick up 'The White Queen' and her Tudor Court series if you haven't already :)

Has anyone read Hannah Kent's new book Burial Rites? I hear it's really good...

Most recently read and loved book - People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks and Slammerkin by Emma Donoghue.

Yep, I read Burial Rites after it was featured on MM. I liked it, but didn't love it. Well worth a read, it's very interesting.
