Bomber jackets are back so we've found the best ones for every budget.

I've written about puffer jackets, trench coats, cropped trench coats and shearling jackets, so if you don't have a piece of outerwear you love by the end of this story, I'm sorry to say... but you've left me stumped.

Jokes aside, there are a lot of fashion pieces trending this winter, but none are as cool as the bomber jacket. When you hear the term 'bomber jacket' you most likely think of American teenage jocks, or maybe you pictured yourself over a decade ago, when bomber jackets were last trending.

But in 2024, the bomber has had a chic upgrade. No longer does it have appliques and iron-on decals. Instead, it comes in monochromatic colours and fabrics such as leather and faux suede. In fact, it looks so elevated that it makes your outfit look *expensive*. 

In the latest episode of Nothing To Wear, former Vogue editor Zara Wong said that a bomber jacket can be worn on top of formal dresses, and I don't disagree. It's cool, edgy but somehow still sophisticated. It truly is the whole package.

But the best thing about a bomber jacket is that it goes beyond good looks. If you're searching for outerwear that keeps you warm without looking like you're about to set up a tent, then this. Is. It. As much as I love a puffer jacket, they aren't the most chic item of clothing.

While the bomber isn't as heavy-duty as a puffer, it's a great in-between for when the weather just can't make up its mind.
