The devastating photo of Olympian Bode Miller's 19-month-old daughter's final moments.

Two months on from her daughter’s tragic death, Morgan Miller has shared a heartbreaking photo in the hopes other parents won’t have to go through the same traumatic experience.

Morgan, who is married to America’s most successful Winter Olympian Bode Miller, shared a photo of her cradling her 19-month-old daughter Emeline Grier in her arms as she received oxygen.

The couple’s daughter passed away in June after making her way into a neighbour’s backyard and drowning in their Southern California swimming pool.

Although paramedics initially believed Emeline would survive the ordeal, they were unable to revive her.

“I wish I could have one more day to hold you,” Morgan wrote on Instagram yesterday.

“But until that day comes, continue to work through me and give me the strength to bring awareness, my love,” she added.

“I told you as I held you in this moment that you could still change the world, you could still move mountains… your footprint will be forever left on this world. I love you, my baby girl.”

Since Emeline passed away, Morgan, who is expecting a son in October, has made it her mission to warn other parents about the dangers of drowning on social media.

Morgan has also been honouring three-year-old boy Levi Hughes, who drowned on the day Emeline died.

In another recent Instagram post, Morgan warned other parents to be vigilant about keeping an eye on their children around water.

“Always be aware of water and place as many barriers between your child and those bodies of water as possible (locks, door alarms, pool fences),” she wrote. “None of us are immune to this devastatingly life changing statistic.”

Speaking on the US Today show last month, Morgan said that there’s not a day she doesn’t wish for the opportunity to go back to that day and make it different.

“Now, we have this opportunity to make other parents’ days different,” she said.

“We have the choice to live our days with purpose, to make sure that no other parents had to feel what we’re feeling.”

It can happen in the blink of an eye: Christmas a few years ago and most of the 11 cousins were playing in and around the pool while the adults chatted and socialised and kept an eye on them, but my 2 year old nephew at the time still sunk to the bottom without any of the kids noticing; my sister in law twigged, but they still needed to call the ambulance and take him off to hospital - he made it and he's fine now, but it could so easily have gone the other way.

My sister who hosted Christmas had a tv news crew turn up on her doorstep on Boxing Day wanting a news bite about it, and she told them to go away.

This story literally brings tears to my eyes. It breaks my heart so much. Perhaps it’s because my daughter is this age but it is just so tragic. Swimming pools are so dangerous.
