Do you know what an astrophysicist is?
I mean the specifics are a bit over our heads, but the basic gist is kinda in the title no? Astronomy + physics?
Welllll, turns out there’s a whole bunch of women on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor who can’t even get that far.
“It sounds like a fake job” one of the girls says in a Channel Ten teaser promo.
“I’m a gemini,” a woman called Abbie replies when told what the bachelor does.
Holy s*** on a stick, Abbie.
Poor Abbie has mixed up astrology and astronomy and we just can’t.
THEY’RE VERY DIFFERENT THINGS ABBIE.

Some of the women can’t even say astrophysicist.
“It’s a very big word,” one woman says as the other tries to get all the s’s in the right order.
“Astrophyssiss”
“Astrophsyoo….”
"Am I supposed to know what it is?" another asks the producers offscreen.

For those confused about the specifics, astrophysics is the branch of astronomy concerned with the physical nature of stars and other bits and pieces in space.
It applies the laws of physics and chemistry to explain the birth life and death of everything that exists up there.
We actually cannot contain our excitement for this season of The Bachelor.

I don’t even know what to say without sounding like a complete judgmental bitch. I hope this isn’t going to turn into a whole season of ‘look how ditsy these silly women are, but it’s ok ‘cos they’re really hot’.

Surely it isn't that hard to choose a bunch of intelligent women who are also attractive? Or are they intelligent enough to realise going on the show is stupid?
Yep, I’d say that exactly it. They’re smart enough to know they’ll be edited and manipulated - and that the likelihood of them finding love on a reality show is almost zero.
Raj in The Big Bang Theory is an astrophysicist - Matt seems so not like that character, it's almost like he's post-makeover from Beauty and the Geek. One suspects that he's not "just" an astrophysicist, though, and would have to wonder whether he's going to keep on pursuing it after this season or if he's going to shift into a media career.
You're judging what an astrophysicist is like based on a fictional, comedic character on a sitcom...?

One's a real astrophycist, one's a character on TV. Not really sure why you used Raj as a yardstick. I'm judging this chap too, but not as an astrophysicist. Simply as yet another fame-seeking person on another trash show.
Less of a "yardstick" and more as an observation that they're the only two astrophysicists I can recall being on TV - there was that guy on the live ABC broadcasts recently too, but I don't remember his name and I don't know if he was an astrophysicist or some of type of scientist... :-)
