This may be hard to believe. But once upon a time, before the days of regaling us with cheesy jokes and wearing joggers with jeans, our dads were actually cool.
So cool, in fact, that they were hipsters – the original hipsters.
They were the Neanderthal Man of the hipster world. Luxuriant facial hair, thick-rimmed glasses, vinyls, manual film cameras: yep, our adorably daggy dads owned and rocked them all, long before today’s cool cats were but a twinkle in their eyes.

My dad was quite a dashing soldier in his day. In about 1970 he looked like a young Cameron Daddo... yes, he's let himself go a bit.
My dad had an FJ Holden as a teenager and was a bodgie.
In the 70s he had big lambchop sideburns and a safari suit (the shorts version) and big platform shoes and flares too.
Mum used to make her own dresses at work to wear out that night in the fifties and she had crochet dresses and disco glam dresses in the 70s.
They both looked young for their age, so thanks to them for those genes.
