What Friends would look like if it was made today.

Imagine if the most popular 1990s – 2000s sitcom was made today. There’d be so many more smartphones.

Friends was born in the ’90s: A golden, innocent age before quinoa, Instagram, and the Kardashians.

It was an era where you could (almost) believe that a bunch of 20-somethings who spent 90 per cent of their lives lounging in a cafe could actually afford humungous New York apartments.

But what if the hit 90s sitcom was filmed today?

Well, YouTuber “Nerdist” just created a series called Friends: Rebooted, a video which replaces Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, Joey, Rachel and Ross with a group of modern, narcissistic hipsters.

Here is the video – and it’s probably the best thing you’ll watch today. Post continues after video.

The lyrics pay homage to the original I’ll Be There For You by The Rembrandts, but they have been given a modern twist:

No one told you life was gonna be this way, your Tinder profile sucks and you spilled your almond milk latte. Seems like everyone’s growing out their beard, and your roommate’s going vegan while you’re drinking gluten-free beer.

And the clip shows an endless montage of the characters taking selfies and texting. Constantly.

So let’s just take a moment to praise the TV gods that Friends wasn’t made today…
