Why this "disgusting" Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas article has enraged absolutely everyone.

New York Magazine’s The Cut is facing fierce backlash after publishing a “disgusting” article about Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas.

The article headlined Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ Love For Real?”, labelled actress Priyanka a “global scam artist” and even questioned the validity of the couple’s marriage.

After receiving backlash on social media, the article was swiftly pulled down from the publication’s website and an apology was issued.

“Upon further editorial review, we found this story did not meet our standards. We’ve removed it and apologise,” the apology read.

But despite pulling the article down, screenshots of the bizarre article have continued to circle the web – and it’s easy to see why there was so much furore.

In screenshots posted to Twitter, writer Mariah Smith alleged that Priyanka’s plan was to make as much money as possible from marrying former Jonas Brothers band member Nick.

“At times, marriage can be a beautifully wonderful union that warms even the coldest of hearts, but sadly, this union evokes no such feeling,” Smith wrote.

“All Nick wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood’s latest It Woman, but instead he wound up staring straight at a life sentence with a global scam artist,” she continued.

The writer also took aim at Priyanka for “making” Nick ride into the wedding ceremony on horseback.

“Even more upsetting, she’s a scam artist who never even took the time to make sure he was comfortable riding a horse before arranging for him to enter their wedding ceremony on horseback,” she wrote.

Nick’s older brother Joe Jonas and his partner Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner both expressed their outrage at the article on Twitter.

“This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting,” Sophie wrote.

The Cut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words,” Joe added.

Fans of the newly-married couple have also expressed their disgust at the article.

Bollywood actress Priyanka has since responded to the article.

Speaking to the Hindustan Times, she said: “I don’t even want to react or comment. It’s not even in my stratosphere. I’m in a happy place at this moment. These kinds of random things can’t disturb it.”

This is just weird. Why is the writer so invested in this relationship? It comes across like she’s a Jonas Brothers fan whose nose is out of joint because Nick didn’t marry her. They just seem like such a random couple to pick for this kind of article. It’s odd that she thinks that Priyanka is trying to get more famous by marrying Nick, when she’s a hugely successful Bollywood star in her own right. Does Nick Jonas really have that much power in Hollywood? Also, im getting a little tired of these stories about men being ‘tricked’ or ‘manipulated’ into relationships (see also: Princes Harry and William).
