A good boy named "Scamp the Tramp" just won the contest for world's ugliest dog.

With AAP.

Scamp the Tramp’s looks have just made him the winner of the annual beauty contest for the World’s Ugliest Dog.

The “Rich Dogs of Instagram” are living their best lives. Post continues after video.

The snaggle-haired, bug-eyed pooch took the top prize at the 31st annual World’s Ugliest Dog contest, which is held in Petaluma, California.

Thankfully, it turns out there are benefits to looking like a furball a cat just coughed up. Owner Yvonne Morones of Santa Rosa won an appearance with Scamp on The Today Show as well as USD$1,500 (AUD$2,164) in cash, and another USD$1,500 (AUD$2164) dollars to donate to an animal shelter.

Plus bragging rights, obviously.

Scamp, an adopted street dog, beat 18 other contestants who showed off their droopy tongues, bowed legs and other strange attributes.

Organisers say the contest is not just skin-deep. It is also about bringing attention to the needs of rescue dogs. Most competitors were previously abandoned or rescued from shelters in the US.

It was the 31st year the competition has been held. In 2018, a nine-year-old English bulldog named Zsa Zsa won the San Francisco based competition.

The year before it was a 57-kilogram gentle giant named Martha – a Neopolitan Mastiff with gas and a droopy face.

So many good boys.
