In Snook’s Critics Choice Awards acceptance speech, she gave a special thanks to her husband, Australian comedian Dave Lawson saying, "Thank you to my real husband for being the best husband in a supporting role, you are the joy of my life."
So who is Dave Lawson?
If you’re a millennial, you might recognise Lawson from his time at Nickelodeon as the co-host of Sarvo with James Kerley, Camp Orange and Saturday Nick Television.
He also co-hosted the 2006 Australian Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards with Sophie Monk.
In a 2021 interview with Vogue, Snook confirmed that she and Lawson knew each other well before they got together.
"We’ve been friends since 2014, lived together, travelled together, always excited to see each other, but totally platonic," she said. "We’ve just never been single at the same time."
During the pandemic in 2020 when the Golden Globes were held virtually, Snook and Lawson gave us a sneak peek into their humorous relationship when Snook posted a selfie to her Instagram story with an Emmy award that Lawson had made entirely out of tinfoil.
Snook confirmed in the 2021 Vogue interview that she and Lawson were locked down in Melbourne together at the start of the pandemic which is when they fell in love.
Confirming that they tied the knot a few years later, she said, "I proposed, and we got married in February in my backyard."
In 2023, Snook announced her pregnancy at the season 4 premiere of Succession, coming as a (welcomed) surprise to fans of the show.
She later announced the birth of her baby with Lawson via an Instagram post, giving an ode to the final episode of Succession in the caption.
"It’s hard to express what this show has meant to me… I’m going to miss it all. The people of this show are a talented bunch, and I’m proud to have worked alongside them, it’s the people I will miss most of all.
"I just watched the final episode of the final season of something that has changed my life. And now, my life has changed again. Thank you for all the love and support."
Snook’s portrayal of Siobhan Roy in Succession is nominated for a 2024 Emmy award for Lead actress in a drama television series.
