The reason Ross and Rachel always broke up on Friends.

It’s no word of a lie that Ross and Rachel had a rocky relationship during their time together on Friends. They were worlds away from Chandler and Monica, who had it pretty easy in comparison.

Think about it. Ross and Rachel got married and then just as quickly got divorced. They unintentionally had a baby before finally getting back together in the last episode.

Their 10 years together was marked with a number of highs and lows. But why did Ross and Rachel go through so much when the rest of the characters on the show seemingly had it easy? Well put simply, it doesn’t make good television.

No one cared if Chander and Monica had ups and downs, but they had all the feels for Ross and Rachel.

During the NBC reunion show, director James Burrows explained why the pair were destined to have such a rocky relationship at the hands of the script writers.

“It’s the same as Sam and Diane [from Cheers]. They flirted for a lot longer, but you have to shake it up.… If you don’t fight, and if you don’t get angry, you have no place to go,” Burrows said.

During the show it was also said that Lisa Kudrow, who played the character of Phoebe, was the only actress from the cast who had to audition twice.

“But I had to come in and audition for Jimmy,” Kudrow said while speaking about the audition process.

Well, you learn something new everyday.

DId you know Friends replaced Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox and no one noticed? Watch it happening…

Ross and Rachel were two annoying selfish childish characters that made rubbish parents. There was zero chemistry between them and I never rooted for them to get together or last.

I much preferred Monica and Chandler. At least there was some growth there, especially Chandler. Ross was a whiny, jealous brat. He had his funny moments, but I always thought him and Rachel ending up together felt a bit forced.
