Victorian twins Kristian and Kristiana were born at just 28 weeks’ gestation. But their bond was clear from the beginning.
In a special family moment, the babies, who weighed just under a kilogram each, reached out and held each other’s hands as they snuggled into their father’s chest.
And their mother, Anthea Jackson-Rushford, captured it on video and shared it on Facebook, where it has been viewed close to seven million times.
In the short clip, Anthea remarks: “He actually holds her hand. How is that possible? That’s just unbelievable.”
Her husband, Glen, says: “It’s like he’s going, ‘I’ve got you’.”
But the couple have since seen the behaviour numerous times and shared it in videos and images on social media.
Anthea writes: “We realise it may be a tad bit disturbing seeing our twins with tubes but they are premmie babies so it is understandable and normal. I’m sharing photos and videos for the simple reason that it gives hope to all parents out there that even they do just fine!”

This is gorgeous! My girls were 27 weeks and had to be separated shortly after as one needed surgery. They were apart for 10 weeks before seeing each other again. The nurses put them in the same cot together as soon as they could and the girls snuggled up and slept as if they'd never been apart. They used to wriggle the same hand free of their wraps and hold it up over their heads, like sychronised swimmers! Very cute.
