POSHWATCH

It seems Posh is in a spot of fashion bother. You know her new fashion line? Me neither. Well, only vaguely. In the same way that I'm vaguely aware of Kevin Rudd's front bench…there's Julia Gillard and Wayne Swann and then….I get a bit lost. Oh wait. Tanya Plibersek. I like her a lot. Anyway. Posh has a fashion line and there are accusations that she – quick, sit down – is ripping off designer Roland Mouret.
I don't know why they would say that. Just because they use the same seamstresses, pattern cutters and fabric makers. That's a co-incidence surely.

According to the Daily Mail:

When Victoria Beckham’s new dress collection was launched in London
last week, it drew gasps of admiration from some of the most
established figures in the fashion industry.

The former Spice
Girl turned designer, who has claimed she is more proud of her debut
collection than anything else she has achieved, insisted she alone was
responsible for creating the haute couture.

Talking about her
designs, Victoria, 34, said: ‘I really had to prove myself … But now
I feel like I am competing in an arena where I belong. I was so nervous
because this has been a lifetime in the making.’

But it seems the former Posh Spice has had a considerable amount of
help in the guise of one of her favourite designers, Frenchman Roland
Mouret.

Rumours are circulating in the fashion industry that the
man behind the famous Galaxy dress – the hourglass dress that made
women look like Forties Hollywood stars – is largely behind her
collection.

Last night, Victoria’s PR team admitted she is using
the same seamstresses, pattern cutters and fabric makers as 45-year-old
Mouret.

I have to say, my care factor about this is low. Lower than low. Sounds like Mouret is involved in the back end and taking a cut.
This is Roland Mouret..

This is Posh…

Roland..

Posh…

Rolan…

Posh…

And here are the 'Dear Customer" tags from both labels…

I get that she&#39s snack sized, teeny tiny, microscopic even - I just don&#39t understand why she insists on having her couture sprayed on. I think she almost always looks like she&#39s wearing a size too small....

Who cares? A dress is a dress is a dress. You take all the designers who show in the fashion capital runway shows around the world, and apart from the freakery of Vivienne Westwood, the vast majority are a variation on a theme for the season. It&#39s only the trimmings, the colors and the fabrics that make the difference. And the accessories of course. There are only so many ways you can cut, drape and stitch a swathe of fabric to cover the human body, so eventually, you are going to get similarities. Or even almost-identicals.
And let&#39s face it girls, how many of us mere mortals are going to be able to afford designer togs anyway? We&#39ll wait till the high street chain-store copies come out and buy those!

It&#39s only my humble opinion, but I think it&#39s immoral to pay hundreds and even thousands of dollars for a single item or outfit... when there are so many needy people in the world. I rather rashly wrote a large cheque out for Medecins Sans Frontieres (sorry, no accent buttons here) and now find I&#39m having to be very careful with my own spending. But my money is doing a lot of good for people in a lot of need. Just means I buy less for myself for a while.

I&#39ve always liked Victoria, and her designs pictured here look quite nice (love the black number she&#39s wearing), so I&#39m not for a moment knocking her. (Except that I do wish she&#39d smile more often... she&#39s got such a sweet smile....)
