Fashion in Australia will change forever this Sunday.

It’s taken six months of planning, more than 768 cups of coffee, and 1,000’s of emails to orchestrate the first plus-size fashion event of its size to be held during the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF), but it’s finally paid off.

The Curvy Couture Roadshow (CCR) is one of the highlights of this year’s VAMFF’s Cultural Program. Held on March 30, it will showcase 18 of Australia’s best plus-size designers with a runway show and market stalls selling the size 14 and above fashion.

Model Robyn Lawley is a major sponsor of the event and thinks this a positive step forward for all Australian Fashion Week programs.

“Size diversity should be a part of every major runway event and I am really thrilled to be able to contribute by supporting designers who are supporting this side of the fashion industry,” Lawley says.

The roadshow is the brainchild of Kate Millett of plus-size vintage boutique Bombshell Vintage together with fellow fashionistas Erin Cox, Kerry Pietrobon, Teresa Raso, Jess Tracey and Jess West.

Collectively their aim was to give independent and emerging designers a spot to showcase their designs to the public while being a part of Melbourne Fashion week. They want to inspire Australian women to take risks with fashion, experiment and seek clothes that make them feel fabulous and fierce.

“We all believe that plus-size should not be separated or segregated, that fashion should be in one section of any store, not hidden out the back like something to be ashamed of, but up front and centre,” says the CCR team.

“We hope that this event is a positive step to change the outlook of fashion in general in Australia.”

Going to be in Melbourne this weekend? There are a few tickets still left, so head over to www.curvycoutureroadshow.com for all the details. You can also follow them on .

I am so totally excited for this event! bought my tickets ages ago- i think the best bit is seeing all the brands being worn by people who arnt necessarily models. They did a call out for anyone over the size 14 to try out and be a model for a day, and if I hadnt been so chicken this would have been fun. So seeing real melbourne women wearing the brands clothes in all sizes from 14 up, is going to be a real pleasure! cant wait! more events like this are needed :) good luck CCR girls! rock the runway

I think we should re-define "plus size" as women whose bellies are bigger than their breasts or bottoms.

All of the models in the gallery are gorgeous looking for a start, (they are models obviously) and none of them have tummies to speak of.

Every woman has a different shape and not all 'plus size' women have bigger bellies than their breasts or bottoms.
