A woman has been charged with threatening to slit Mariam's throat.

Setting a wonderful example for her kids…

A Reclaim Australia supporter has been criminally charged after allegedly threatening to slit the throat of Mariam Veiszadeh, a prominent anti-Islamophobia campaigner.

The 37-year-old mother of three allegedly sent the Sydney lawyer a message on Facebook saying she would “find you and hunt you down”, Fairfax Media reports.

“Watch as we come for you in your sleep [and] cut your throat as you do [to] the animals you torment,” the message reportedly said.

It allegedly included a threat to “kill your family for you to see [and] kill your uncle which is now your husband”.

Earlier this year, the woman began an online petition to ban head scarves and enforce stricter immigration laws for Muslims.

Fairfax reports the woman’s Facebook profile showed opposition to Islam, support for Reclaim Australia rallies and campaigns to ban halal certification and “Islamisation”.

Ms Veiszadeh did not want the woman’s name to be published to protect her children, but said she reported the behaviour to police to discourage others from cyber-bullying.

She said as a vocal opponent of bigotry and Islamaphobia, she is regularly inundated with abusive social media messages.

In February, a woman was sentenced to 180 hours of community service after sending threatening messages to the lawyer.

Ms Veiszadeh said bigotry and far-right extremism was “flourishing” in the “current political landscape”, with movements like Reclaim Australia sprouting “vitriol, preaching hatred and ultimately inciting violence towards Australian Muslims”.

“Our government’s ongoing silence about the Reclaim Australia movement and the rise in far-right extremist organisations, is deafening,” she told Fairfax.

“These threats issued against me are proof of it.”

I'm not surprised. Reclaim Australia are already experiencing internal conflict. I give them another 3 months before they get bored.

An educated professional who practices her religion does not deserve to be inundated with violent rubbish. Fighting against islamic extremism does not mean becoming an extremist back.

Exactly. Moderate, law abiding Australian citizens have every right to practice their religion in Australia and speak out if they are being unfairly targeted by bigots (which they are).
