The most important item a bride must decide on ahead of her wedding is the wedding dress. It’s often the first item that is organised after that engagement ring is slipped on her finger, that is, if it hasn’t already secretly been decided on or at least considered ahead of the proposal. Once the dress is sorted, the rest just seems to fall into place.
“Fall into place” as in it’s painstakingly organised by the couple down to the very last detail.
Once the day arrives and everything is in place, it’s time to relax and enjoy the day. That is, as long as someone doesn’t try and ruin your day by being impossible.

This story isn’t about all mother-in-laws. Not all relationships involving mothers-in-law are difficult and maybe this one didn’t have any issues ahead of the blessed event (although that’s hard to imagine). While this story is scant on details, one thing is obvious.
The mother-in-law turned up to the wedding wearing a wedding dress, and the bride was pissed. Who wouldn’t be? It’s just not done.
This mother-in-law may as well have arrived wearing a t-shirt saying, “I hate the bride”, or “You’re not good enough for my son”, or perhaps she could have rolled around on the floor throwing an almighty tantrum during the ceremony. Even that would have been better. At least then the wedding video would have been interesting. But no, instead like many unhappy motherd-in-law before her this woman chose a perfect act of passive-aggression.

It's hard to predict how this marriage is going to turn out with tension on the day that should have been the happiest, most romantic, loved and supported days of their lives.
Really, it's the stuff of nightmares.
MIL: "This isn't a wedding dress. It's a cream dress and I've had it for ages."
BRIDE: Spluttering in disbelief, unable to speak.
GROOM: Feeling slightly nauseous, decides to play dumb in order to keep them both happy.
Hopefully this is one of those families where the mother-in-law and her son aren't very close, or if they are close sadly live far, far away from each other.

I'm not sure what someone who does this is trying to achieve. (Other than obviously trying to steal the limelight.) If I was at a wedding where someone other than the bride was wearing a wedding dress, I'd think they were a bit nuts! I think most people would see it for what it was - a childish attempt to upstsge the bride or start a fight. It would only reflect badly on the other person, not the poor bride!
Don't even get me started!!!! My SIL husbands left her two wks before our wedding she sat in the corner the entire night crying her eyes out trying to get her brother (my husband) to sit with her and comfort her which of course he didn't and then the next day blamed the entire thing on me because I was selfish and didn't cancel my wedding, instead I rubbed it in her face in the fact her husband had left her. Up until this point I thought she liked me and my MIL spent the entire reception telling my family all about how my husbands ex girlfriends wedding to the point my family now can not stand the site of her. Don't even get me started on the Sh"t they pulled when we had kids!!!!
