Ex-Spice Girl tells the world she's not a feminist. Shits all over girl power.

Oh Scary, you’ve really put your foot in it this time.

You know how the Spice Girls were all about girl power? And Mel B, a.k.a Scary Spice, was one of the most popular Spice Girls? Yeah, well she’s really undone all of that good work with some, er, misguided comments about feminism.

She just proudly told the world that, wait for it, she’s NOT a feminist.

Yep, you read that right. Mel B, the queen of the ’90s girl power movement, is NOT a feminist. Well, at least that’s what she wants you to think.

In an interview with The London Times, the 39-year-old confessed that she doesn’t really like to call herself a feminist: “I wouldn’t call myself a feminist.

“I try to live by the girl-power motto. It’s about believing in yourself, no matter how bad a day you’re having, and lending your support to other women,” she added. “It’s empowering to have that camaraderie with other women.”

Wait, hold up. That’s pretty much what a feminist is Mel.

We think she is a little bit confused when it comes to the definition of feminism. Correction: we know Mel B is a little bit incredibly wrong about the definition of feminism.

It appears that for all her talk of being tough, Scary Spice can’t bring herself to come out and say she supports equality for women. You might recall a similar declaration coming from The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting last year, for which she later apologised.

Read more about it…. She’s on one of the most-watched show in the world. And she’s definitely, absolutely NOT a feminist.

Too many famous women seem hung up on getting as far away from the F-word as humanly possible. Lest they be contaminated by the urge to protest for equal pay. Beacuse that would be terrible.

Where’s Beyonce when you need her?

Flick through for some more pics of Mel B definitely NOT being a feminist…

Maybe because she doesn't believe she lives in a Patriarchy, doesn't believe in Toxic masculinity, the evils of "Male Gaze", "rape culture" and blaming men for all the world's and women's problems?

Ever think of that?

Maybe she thinks feminism is completely one sided in it's very name, its equality FOR women mantra when equality is in fact a balancing act that requires attention to men's rights issues too?

Maybe she believes in basic girl empowerment without the marxist class oppression theories in women's studies?

Maybe she's a positive person when feminists are overwhelmingly negative complainers who spread misinformation?

She's not a feminist. That's her choice. Get over it, and stop being collectivist. She doesn't have to fall in line with your feminist hive mind.

Breaking news, woman who was once quite famous misses the point, decides to go public with uninformed views.

Not to worry Mel, those of us who believe women deserve to be treated equally to men will just keep up the struggle to ensure you can keep the job, pay, rights and freedoms you would have been denied without feminism. You can keep enjoying the fruits of feminism's hard work and opining on a subject about which you are clearly uneducated.

You're welcome.

So what you're actually saying is that you are not allowed as a famous woman to say that you are not a feminist. Is that what you are saying? Do women no longer have a choice about whether or not they are allowed to be honest about their views if they are in the public eye? Kaley Cuoco of The Big Bang Theory recently faced the wrath of feminists when she dared to say publicly that she wouldn't call herself a feminist. Apparently she also raised their ire when she said she cooks for her husband every night. She had to publicly apologise!!!!! If this is what feminism has become, women everywhere should be outraged. If feminism is truly about a women's right to choose, then they should be able to choose not to be feminists! And just on the subject of what feminism has gained for women, as a 49 year old women, I have seen women's rights go backwards.
