When Meghan Markle assumed her role as the Duchess of Sussex, we knew she wouldn’t be like any other royal before her.
However, according to a very thorough investigation by Polly Dunbar for the Daily Mail, the rather “formal” palace staff is still adjusting to Meghan’s “particular brand of ‘up and at ’em’ West Coast energy.”
Their words, not ours.
According to the journalist, Meghan’s day starts at 5am, “rain or shine,” and despite being only six months into her role, she’s brimming with enthusiasm.
The Duchess is also an avid fan of communicating with staff and reportedly sends palace aides “six or seven” texts a day filled with her “ideas and requests”.
“It is said palace staff have never experienced anything remotely like Meghan’s formidable work ethic, matched only by the incessant stream of ideas about how to shape her role,” writes Dunbar.
It's not just the early wake-up calls and texts that are ruffling feathers at Kensington Palace, but staff, and in particular the Queen, have taken issue with the "boldness" of Meghan's dress sense.
Not only has Meghan expanded her wardrobe to include a non-British designers, apparently her fondness for a classic, all-black ensembles isn't fitting with royal protocol which dictates the colour should only be worn to signify mourning.
Quoting a member of the Kensington Palace fashion team, the source said, "Meghan is being told she needs to start dressing less like a Hollywood star and more like a Royal."
Now, given the recent and sudden departure of two members of the Duchess' staff - including Meghan's personal assistant, Melissa - these apparent rumblings of dissatisfied employees aren't anything new.
Despite this, all of the sources quoted in the story have remained nameless, so take this information with a good dose of salt. And while we don't want to add unfounded speculation to the story, perhaps these sources are similar to the ones which just yesterday suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are looking to fly the royal coup, and move out on their own.
You know... as in the very royal rumours which an actual royal spokesperson from Kensington Palace have already denied, telling The Sun that they're "not true".

Yeah, because the Queen, who is in her fricking 90's and still working, certainly hasn't got a formidable work ethic. The palace must be so bewildered to be working with such a fresh breath of air like Meghan, the likes of whom nobody has seen before. Getting up at 5am to do yoga - how revolutionary!
You have to THINK what this is really saying... "The new 'Princess Bride' gets up early to BARK OUT ORDERS AT THE STAFF."
(remember Leona Helmsley, Ms. Mehrkel's royal auntie "Queen of Mean!".
Malcolm, I believe you might be right... but she is American, so definitely a very independent person who will find it so very hard to fit in and realise what it truly means to be a Royal.... she might not fit in and maybe the couple will have to leave the Royal nest... but in doing so, it might spark distance from her husband as he has to carry on with his duties...
She may also struggle with accepting the fact that as the newcomer, she may indeed have a lot to learn and may actually benefit from taking advice, rather than assuming The Firm don't know what they're doing.
