It’s been nearly four months since Love Island Australia wrapped up, leaving behind the scandals, swimsuits and secret girlfriends.
Now, all of the former contestants have kickstarted their influencer careers – teeth whitening endorsements and all – surprising precisely no one.
But who has stayed strong since the reality show and who has broken up in the real world?
Here’s what has happened to the the top four couples from Love Island Australia 2019.
Jessie and Todd
Jessie Wynter and Todd Elton were one of the last couples to form a relationship on the Channel Nine reality TV show.
With Jessie based in Tasmania and Todd living in Melbourne, the couple managed to stay together for three months after placing fourth on the show.
In February, however, Jessie and Todd announced they were parting ways.
“This post isn’t easy to write and isn’t something I want to be confirming but sadly, yes the relationship between Todd and I is over,” Jessie said in an Instagram post on February 17.
“I know that coming off of a reality television show people will have their opinions which is a position I put myself in but please be mindful that at the end of the day we have feelings and breakups aren’t easy.”
Todd also confirmed the breakup to his followers, writing: “I have so much respect for Jessie and the way she has handled the whole situation and we will remain friends.”
Cartier and Matthew
Runner-ups Cartier and Matthew were one of the most popular couples with the voting public, but less than a month after exiting the villa, the two parted ways.
Cartier Surjan, 19, and Matt Zukowski, 24, announced their break-up in late November, both confirming it was Cartier’s decision.
“I’ve made the decision that Matthew and I are better off staying good friends rather than in a relationship,” the 19-year-old said. “He’s a beautiful guy no doubt about it! Hope you all can respect my decision and support both of us in finding true love.”
Matthew also said: “Moving forward I would just like to let you all know that Cartier has decided that the two of us are better off suited as friends, I respect Cartier and her decision. She is truly a beautiful girl and I wish the best for her in the future! Hope you can all support us finding true love.”
Cynthia and Aaron
Cynthia Taylu, 23, and Aaron Shaw, 27, walked away, hand-in-hand, in third place on Love Island. But a week following the finale, the two announced they were no longer together.
“Throughout my entire Love Island experience, I stayed true to myself and meant everything I said and that’s all I could do. Life is weird and sometimes it’s hard to make sense of things,” Cynthia wrote on Instagram.
“As you’ve all probably noticed, Aaron and I are no longer together. I ask you all to please be respectful of me during this time. It’s been a very draining and emotional time… but I’m looking forward to the future.”
Aaron similarly updated his followers on their relationship status in November, admitting “I truly feel like Cynthia and I are on different wavelengths.
“This is nothing against Cynthia as she’s a beautiful soul, however the dreams and aspirations she has are completely different to mine.”
“For the short three weeks I knew her, it was relaxing and amazing,” he continued. “However, for us to truly build into a relationship we would have to go through those barriers which I know won’t align.”
Anna and Josh
In November 2019, Anna McEvoy, 27, and Josh Packham, 25, were crowned the 2019 winners of Love Island Australia.
The couple walked away with $50,000, split between the two of them.
Nearly four months later, Anna and Josh are looking as strong as ever. Although Josh lives in Sydney and Anna resides in Melbourne, distance seemingly hasn’t kept them apart.
The two regularly post loved-up posts to Instagram, with Anna recently saying on the social media platform to her 300,000 followers: “Fall in love with someone who doesn’t make you think love is hard.”
They’ve certainly outlasted the 2018 winners of Love Island Australia, Tayla Damir and Grant Crapp, who lasted just 13 days out of the villa.
